not at all, with Palin it is actually getting much better!

TheHeretic -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 9:00:52 PM)

Of course.  And there are plenty who've never paid a bit of attention.  For the junkies though, this is our time.

Wyrd, there is a song in here, and we shall sing it.

(In different keys of course)

If you are finding this historic presidential race "boring" then what sort of politcal arena would you consider exciting?

kdsub -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 9:16:16 PM)

always fun

I am not bored, so much as I am completely disgusted by much of it.

As much passion as I have for political causes, I don't enjoy seeing personal attacks take the place of issues, as it so often reverts to a mud-slinging contest.

Could be just my weird take on it (wouldn't be the first time)....

Aneirin -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 9:37:38 PM)

I never liked soap operas and this to me is becoming one, a blow by blow account of everything and the analysis beyond. A thought has just occurred, this is akin to a sports commentator commenting on a sports game, has anyone ever actually listened to the drivel they spout when a game is going on. I can deal with facts, but not the nit picking and analysis of speeches made after they have occurred.

But whoever gets into power, and the changes they promise, remember words are just words until action is taken and once a person is in power, it is too late. Changes we all need, but I wonder how watered down those promises will be once the golden seat is attained. The president might in theory be the most powerful person in America, but is he really, is he so brave as to cause change and upset the status quo.

Hearkening back to the days of  the rhetoric of John Kenneddy, I recall "they got a man on the moon'  Andy Kaufmann

Did Andy Kaufmann actually say that?

Dunno.

I am not bored, so much as I am completely disgusted by much of it.

I have bad news for you then.  All of this has only been the preliminary events.  The actual race starts next week, and a lot more people will start paying attention.

         Perhaps an X-box?

DomMeinCT -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 9:51:16 PM)

Bored?  No.  You couldn't write fiction as entertaining as this.

Yes, that is if they have not been put off by the mud slinging match so far. An x- box, nah, I am a PS2 person and I will get to it just as soon as I have found a copy of Ratchet and Clank, locked and loaded.

Hanable -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 10:29:15 PM)

I love it. It’s like watching ferrets, jacked up on cocaine, fight.

Incidently, one reason why I am hoping that McCain wins is that liberals are always much more melodramatic (and hence, much more entertaining) than conservatives when they loose.

GreedyTop -> RE: Are there any Americans........ (9/5/2008 10:37:46 PM)

count me in on the 'disgusted' side...

(ferrets on cocaine fighting.. *snort* What a visual!!)

I'm tired/bored of the whole false left/ right paradigm, and all the goobers who've been sucked up into it.  The democrats, no the republicans, no the democrats, no I like the republicans....yada yada yada.....

Sugar was on the money a couple months back when he said the country was full of retards.

R,

I too occasionally get tired of the circus, and withdraw for a time, to recharge my energy, and get re-engaged.

The whole "left-right" thing is very much a straight-jacket, and blinds many people to the nuances of many people's actual beliefs and position.

But you have to admit, it can still be pretty entertaining, when you can step back from all the ideologues, and just "people-watch".

As far as the retards .... well, the ones who stay engaged end up running the country, so I kinda feel like I have to stay somewhat involved, regardless, otherwise I'm handing the future of my kids over to a bunch of asylum patients ...  [:D]
