Toe/heel walk?  Like how ballerinas walk, you mean?  I can't work out the logistics of that. :/

Venatrix -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/7/2008 4:17:21 PM)

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought it was going to be about badly behaved men.  If you want me to talk to you about that, I can.

I always wear new shoes around the house a few times, while watching t.v or doing chores.  It is a good way to find out how long you can wear them before before they start to hurt :)

I was just wondering HOW these people knew that LadyConstance had those itty bitty size 5 shoes?

KCherry -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/7/2008 6:56:36 PM)

Someone else wears a size 5. Wow, now I dont feel so alone. I hate having to buy childrens shoes.

DominaSusan -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/7/2008 8:19:29 PM)

When I was younger I could get away with those impossibly high stilettos but now I find that I have to wear shoes with a larger high heel base. I also find that once my sub is blindfolded, lower incline shoes can be put on without losing any of the effect of the outfit. Sometimes I’ll have my sub take off the higher heeled shoes and replace them with something more reasonable before a session starts. Definitely, walking around all day at a convention in high heel shoes can make anyone a crabby bitch. I lose focus when my feet hurt.

TheLadyConstance -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/7/2008 8:30:29 PM)

Nah, I'm actually a 7.5 unless I'm leaving room for inserts.  :)  Still tiny, but not "falling over in a stiff breeze" tiny.

KinkyArtemis -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/7/2008 9:45:31 PM)

An oft overlooked tip... (and this from a BBW who LOVES her heels, wears a size 10 and wants to save her feet)...anything, anything, ANYTHING you can do to strengthen both your quads and your ankles will help tremendously, especially if you are ever going to be wearing over-the-knee or thigh-high boots.  I have found that starting with ankle boots is easier than regular heels, as the boots tend to offer extra support around the ankle, whereas the regular heels do not.  If you have strong thighs and can almost "lead" with them as you walk...this will help a lot to mitigate the teeter-totter factor that can occur with tall heels.

I'm developing an obsession with shoes, and I want to learn any tricks I can before I do permanent damage to my tootsies!

*smiles*

I don't have too much more to add that wasn't already covered in the first couple of responces, but I liked that sentance. That's me too!

I've always loved pedicures after a big night out. or putting your feet in a tub with marbles in the bottom.

Having a good sub around to masage them would be rad too! [:D]

SolangeRichards -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 4:19:53 AM)

A trick you can try with shoes made of synthetic material is to warm them a bit with a hair dryer. Not too much, you don't want to liquify the glues used in the manufacturing, just enough to make the vinyl a bit more pliable. Leather shoes can be treated with shoe streching lotions/sprays etc. A shoe stretcher is a device that is very handy to own and easily found online at reasonable prices.

Another style to look into is anything with a chunky heel. Walking is much easier in them and they help your legs adjust to height while giving you a more stable foundation than an ultra spike will.

Lastly, many companies offer styles made from microfibers rather than vinyl. These shoes often look very sleek, and the stretchy material is much easier on your feet. Downright comfy in fact!

Sylverdawn -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 5:04:16 AM)

thinks thats why kitten heels where invented.. and thanks god for that.. I never were high heels.. unless Im sitting and they are involved in shoe worship.. I just dont see the point in all that discomfort.. nope.. nope nope..

LaTigresse -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 7:08:31 AM)

This is why I love big handbags. If I am wearing some sexy high heels, I have a secret weapon. I have an old pair of black, suede and crocodile, flats that still look great. I put some really good arch support insoles in them and stick them in my bag. If I unexpectedly have to do alot of walking, I switch shoes, then switch back when it's time to sit and look sexy.

Coupleofwhats -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 11:14:39 AM)

There is no comfy way to wear heels.
Minimize walking while you learn: have your submissive fetch your drinks and carry your things.

After years and years of practice, you'll find that your feet sort of get used to it. At 16, I could barely tolerate 3inches. By 22, I could dance in 6 inch heels. Last night, I trotted around a party-- up and down a stage at several points -- in 4inches and a latex mini dress. If you love heels, you just have to let them hurt until your feet learn to do as they're told.

Hime -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 12:33:02 PM)

I'll be the first to admit....I will SUFFER for Fashion!  *lol*

I absolutely love high heels and boots. Nowadays I will simply buy what I love because, it's pretty much a guarantee that my feet will become sore no matter what type of shoes I wear for an extended period of time. So, if I'm going to suffer....I might as well do it in style! [:D]

With that said, I do love My feet as well - which are very soft and sensitive.  So....Moleskin, Toe/Heel Pads (gel or foam), and Foot Undies (which can be worn in boots) can provide better protection.  As for calluses, I exfoliate my feet with a buffing file during every shower - and use a long lasting moisturizer afterwards.  The key is....Don't wait until you get calluses - prevent them.

Wow, are those expensive.  Now all I need is a minion with a foot/shoe fetish to purchase them for me.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: Ladies, talk to me about heels (9/8/2008 6:18:36 PM)

I don't recommend using the Pyrrsefanie Method of High Heel Training...

Which is to just grit your teeth and swallow back screams of pain while you wear shoes so terrible for your feet for so long that you end up with nerve damage and thus don't even notice.

True story, I can poke the tips of my toes with a sewing needle and I feel absolutely nothing.

Seconding the advice given about inserts, and also putting moleskin sticky pads in the pressure areas to avoid blisters.  Even if you think they're just a minor annoyance, I've got scars all over the tops of my feet and the backs of my heels thanks to being too stubborn to make such a small modification... so unless you or your loved one(s) have a scar fetish, beware.

Like that episode with Nellie in Little House on the Prairie!  And then she used Laura's guilt to get her to wait on her. The little things the mind remembers just because there were feet involved ;-)

Cheers,

Sea
