Phil, there's nothing "wrong" with research. I just don't think the Taxpayers should be fleeced for it is all. Every uni in the country is getting Taxpayer dollars for some type of "research". How about they go into the "D.P.S." (dreaded private sector) and look for money. At what point does it become "not government's business" to be spending our money? There has to be limits! Just because someone says; "it's for science" doesn't mean they should rubber stamp it! There has to be a threshold! You're from Europe so this may seem "foreign" to you but in the U.S. "the government" has no money! Not one penny! Everything they appropriate comes from "The People's Money." And if they budget *our money* the way they should be doing then any money leftover should be returned to,...The People to whom it rightfully belongs! But, that never seems to happen because there's thousands of "programs" to suck that money up! And if someone wants to do "research" then go right ahead! But, they shouldn't expect a blank check provided to them by "The People." So remember, "The U.S. govt. has no money." P.S. I'd like to conduct some "experiments" and get paid for it too! What do you think (my) chances are?
