Solid dark colors, if I can(Hunter green... Yum), any shade of blue, prefer pants grey/black. All sense of color and style goes out the window in my "off" time, though... I own no jeans, but MANY tacky shades of "hawaiian".

For less casual, navy blue(I'm a youngun...) or charcoal, depending on the crowd.

On walking around my town yesterday, I for whatever reason started to notice what people wear, not the style they wear, but the colour, I noticed the most dominant colour was black and there began to wonder why, why is it people like to wear black. Now I wear black, most of the time, I ask myself why I wear black and though I can think of some reasons, they are not the over riding reason, I am just comfortable in black, but why ?

Has anyone else noticed what the dominant colour is amongst the people they live and work with, is it black, or is it a different colour ?

Those here, what colour do you wear  predominantly, do you have a reason for that colour, or is you are just comfortable, if you are comfortable, can  you say why ?

I've always wondered why you wore black.

I got asked last night , by a bunch of middle aged bikers if anyone ever laughs at me when I am wearing my black 'armour', seeing as I am not a biker. My answer was if they do, I don't care, as I dictate my own style. But if a high street clone laughs, I  pity them for following a seasonal and there expensive  high street trend designed to sell clothes. I have the courage to wear what I like and I am not afraid to be who I am.

Interesting though the wearing of black, it generally has an interesting effect. A viewer sees just dark clothes, often devoid of distracting patterns and colours, which has the effect that if someone talks to you, they have to talk to the face, not the person. It is I suppose empowering to wear black.

Im a native NYker and tend to agree with the post above about black not showing dirt. Plus everything I wear pretty much goes with everything else. But I always thought I wore black because I was an artist. Not because I was a NYker. lol

My southern Boyfriend has a coporate job yet never wore black, thinking black made him look awful. I think Black is sexy on a man tho and sometimes now, I've caught him in a black pair of pants and whoa! Even a black jacket. lol

I seem to look better (I think) in blacks, whites and earth tones (olive greens, browns and tans). When I deviate from this it's still usually darker shades (royal blue, burgundy).

*shrug*

I wear a lot of black, due to my gothy weirdo nature, but I like pinks, greens, turquoise and purple, just to accent.

(fast reply)

I always wear something black but usually not from head to toe. If pants are black, then usually a lighter color top. If wearing jeans, then definitely a black top. ALL of my shoes and boots are black.

I like wearing black because it shows the mayonnaise stains so much better.
