Democrats could have diffused all this by simply ignoring here. Leave her be and let Senator Joe wipe the table with her in the debate. Probably can't play it that way at this point.

Exactly.  I had a sense of foreboding about Bush in 2000, enough so that after 22 years, I switched parties.  I have the exact same feeling about this person.  She makes my skin crawl.
