Busy busy time for me. Apples loading down the trees, frantic picking, sauce making canning and freezing. Also, trying to get everything ready for the winter season. Heating fuel stocked up, hay piled in the shed. Scheduling vehicles for checkups and maintenance. All the fun and expensive stuff. Work has been insanely busy lately, having to make myself do some OT. The male of the farm hit a deer with my truck. So much for a pristine 1996 Dodge Ram 4wheel drive extended cab. Thank god for insurance, and even more so that it is still drivable. Getting ready for the big family invasion that starts this next weekend and will culminate with a mega-cookout on the 27th. Last count was around 70-80 people. 8-15 of them will be staying at the farm for most of the week. Lots of pig to roast. I am just glad I had the foresight to ask people to bring a side dish and their own beverages. After I recover from that, I will begin to focus on the excitment of having my girl come here the end of October. For the first time I have a really good feeling about someone working out. I think her temperment is going to work well with the dynamic of the farm. It is a quiet secluded place for the most part. Not everyone prefers that type of lifestyle. Many would be bored to tears. She loves it. Another girl is visiting in November. I am not so confident about her in a longterm type situation. She's been a bit flaky already. However, I did promise to give her a fair opportunity to prove herself. Time will tell. For all I know the first will flake out and the second will fit perfectly!
