Actually, she just said she didn't think someone liked her. You on the other hand are the one who brought forth the "group and me" thing. If anyone is starting an issue, I see it as you. From the behavior you are displaying here in this public forum, I would decline joining or being active in your group too. YMMV.

I've never attended a play party or a munch or a demo. I have no interest in playing in public, but I think I'd someday like to just go and watch, purely out of curiosity. I also think I would find "Demos" interesting to watch. Basically it's just a fleeting curiosity for me, and maybe someday I'll check it out, but I doubt it would become my thing on any kind of regular basis.

I started attending a couple of munches back in May. Also becams a member of the local club, I don't do public play, but I do enjoy watching others. My SO lives in another state so I mostly just go to demos and classes, once in a while I will attend a club party. Most all the people I have met are very nice, I kinda just stay in the background and watch. Maybe soon I will get more involved.

I greatly enjoy public scenes and public play. I'm semi-active in the local scene. Becoming more and more active as time goes on. Looking forward to attending some of the bigger kink stuff next year.

I'm very involved in several of my local communities (and some not so local). Participation ranging from attending to organizing and running.

On a sidenote...lookin4plezure, whether you realize it or not you are casting yourself in a poor light. Your response to her had a confrontational feel about it. If you had not pulled back the curtain and exposed yourself, none of us would have known who she might be referring to. Seriously, it would have been much better to take the issue to private mail rather than muck up the boards with it. Being a leader you should have the skills to deal with personal issues or personality clashes in a more effective and tasteful manner. If the manner in which you are dealing with it here is representative of the way you deal with it within your group....I would be avoiding it also.

I am involved to a extent, I work 2nd shift, so I only do weekend events. Munches are during the week, I dont do those. My lady tends bar at a BDSM club, I go with her when my schedule permits it. We did use a few vacation days to go to Master Taino's 3 day Master Slave conference recently. I go to events when I can, I have to juggle them inbetween cycle week events.

A new group has started up locally and we attend their munches. We also belong to a couple of other groups but dont get along to them as often because of the distances involved
We really enjoy the social aspect of the munches BUT we have no interest in play parties, either watching or actively taking part. We also try to avoid all the drama that often accompanies groups, having withdrawn from one other group for that very reason

Thats really what I wanted to say but I'm usually not very good at stuff like that.

The attitude shown is something I hear often about local groups and part of why I haven't a lot of interest in them. I've tried, a bit. They feel insular and like I have to break through something to be accepted which is another thing I'm not very good at!

Recently I have met some locals (pj pj pj pj pj and her Ma'am) and they turned out to be wonderful people, but in general I don't have an urge for public play. Maybe because I'm a naturally private person.

I am hoping that when I move, I can find people as welcoming as the ones I mentioned above (pj pj pj pj pj and her Ma'am

) but if its a battle ground then I won't get into it.

i huant our local dungeon, and make it to the Orlando Munch whenever i can. i DM for Master Cecil whenever we have Con's in the area, and my assistance is needed. we cook when the events at the club go long. basically a family unit. hell, right now it is so bad we are all sharing colds back and forth.

i am not really sure that i want to be sharing all the germs, but i love the family.

i tried getting involved but the drama & the cliques drove me away...i tried 2 different munch groups in different cities & the same was true of both of them...i like to surround myself with a drama-free zone, so now i'm only involved with my owners who don't believe in drama either...the type of thing that just erupted here was the type of thing i ran into in the real life "scene"...so, while i'm not involved in the kink "community", i'm very involved in a kinky relationship & i think i'll just keep it that way.....

I think as far as the bit about safety; You find what you are looking for. I have seen alot of good information online about safety, and am not sure like someone mentioned if Online Safety isn't hyperactive.

I am not very active in the local group because yeah there has been some kind of in-fighting going on that I am breifly, vaguely aware of... drama nonetheless that' I'd prefer not to have or deal with in any group setting I belonged in. It's hard to be part of something that meets over an hour away from you (that's the closest 'local' community i'm aware of) when you don't drive, especially being they meet on week day evenings. (For munches and stuff). Not knowing anyone there really, also doesn't help the situation. I tried attending the last big event but it didn't work out especially with the flooding as this was in June/July.

I try to stay tuned in to events through my participation on the Yahoo groups when postings come up. Unfortunately, I think the group itself is dying, as there are positions of leadership needing and not being filled.

Not sure what else to add, except that of course, a group can only ever be as good or as active as it's members.

One day maybe I'll find a group and join it, and be an active member.

if having kinky friends makes one part of the local community, then i am. otherwise i am a private person generally - i dont go to local political meetings either.
