Status: offline 		After listening to and reading the transcript of Sen. Obama's speech today, the one he delivered before heading off to his big ticket fundraiser tonight,  I am beginning to believe he is completely out of touch with reality.

He is now taking credit for the economic stimulus package, saying that it was all based on his plan and proposals.  He also blamed the deregulation on the current administration, forgetting that the current laws were signed into law by the previous President.  Finally, he talked about the current bankruptcy laws and how they are to blame for folks not being able to stay in their homes, he neglects to mention that the bankruptcy law that he is railing against was written and pushed hard by his running mate, and that his son was working for the company that was lobbying for the bill.

Revising history seems to be another trend to keep an eye.

Just sayin.

Status: offline 		I didn't hear the speech in question, but if Obama really did half of what you're complaining about, he is only beating McCain and Palin at their own game which consists of shamelessly adopting his campaign slogans and policy key words, touting feminist rhetoric as though they had invented it, and denouncing banking practices as if they were common socialists.

That is the first time I have heard him called that by somebody, but I will go with it.

Yes The HORROR is a politician, most seem to ignore that fact, and want to focus on the happy hope filled messages without paying attention to specifics.

I am sure Sen. The HORROR will make more promises that he knows cannot be delivered on, like a new additional $50Billion in spending.  Hope and change are such pretty messages, it is a shame they are nothing but a pipe dream.  Or are they?

Status: offline 		Thadius, I will accept that you believe you have good reasons for supporting who you do. Granted, as much as I have tried to look at this election from every possible angle and talked to many intelligent people. Most of whom are ALOT more educated about politics than I. I've even talked to die hard republicans, many that are voting for a democratic nominee for the very first time in their life.

I've read enough of your words that I pay more attention to them, even when I do not agree, whereas others that agree with you I think are idiots, not for agreeing with you, just because they've proven themselves on their own merit......or lack thereof.

I've researched and researched. I've weighed the pros and cons.

I admit, neither of the final choices are close to my first choice.

I still just do not get how on earth any intelligent human being with a brain could possibly think John McCain and his wacky sidekick could POSSIBLY be a better choice than Obama and Biden.

All bashing and rhetoric spewing aside. I honestly don't see it and, unless something really major comes into the light as a positive for the rep. party and a huge negative for the democrats........there is no way, as an american, I could in all good concious, vote for McCain. Quite simply it would feel unpatriotic of me.

Status: offline 		I haven't decided to vote for the McCain ticket yet, or even that I support them.

That being said, I cannot see any Republican voting for the current Dem ticket, I would believe they were voting for Barr or Paul, as that would make sense.

What possible reason would a die hard Rep have to vote for a Senator that is against almost every position held by Reps?  Not even to get into the controversial positions he seems completely out of sync with them.  His tax proposals, his spending proposals, gun rights, reliance on the UN and expanding their influence, various treaties, etc...

I grew up as a Dem in Chicago, I even voted for Clinton the first time around, I worked on many a Dem campaign, and have a pretty good idea of who helped Obama get to where he is.  With that knowledge, I cannot and will not vote for the man.  I will leave it to others to find the stuff in his background, I pointed to a few places to look in my "Connecting the dots" thread, but I try not to engage in the smear.  I want folks to make their minds up on the facts.

I will point out areas where he goes out of bounds now, and that is available to the masses. For that I have no regrets, because I believe it will help folks (even those that support him) to take some time and look further into the details, even if it only strengthens their support.

The claims you make about some folks that are pro McCain, could also be made about those that are pro Obama.

As soon as I decide where my vote will best serve me and my country, I will post it.  I will admit that if it came down to a choice of only 2 candidates, I would vote for McCain as he is the lesser of 2 evils and he is an evil that I know.

Status: offline 		Well, if I could introduce you to the die hard republican converts I would........but it just doesn't seem possible, all things considered. Distance and pixels and all.

I agree about the negative bashing on both sides of the equasion, it is getting old. It is also childish and immature. I am not entirely guilt free of it myself.

Anything like that happy hope-filled message of endless tax cuts that are going to stimulate our economy and put us into a golden age of unlimited riches and prosperity?

So is Obama still going to increase the capital gains tax?  That should help free up some capital investment, eh.

If you are going to compare just these 2 tickets, at least one understands that there needs to be cuts in spending and the budget.  The other guy proposed another $50Billion on top of his other spending plans... 

Which one is going to be better for the economy again?
