tsatske -> Another one of those (9/15/2008 6:08:26 PM)

I don't hate these, but I do try not to start them. But, really, people just manage to actually GET on my last nerve.

This is another 'why do these idiots write me?' thread.

I am caught in a CM bug in which I can not send email. I mention that quite a lot here on the board. Of course, not everyone reads the boards.

So I put it in my profile. Plain language - 'understand that I can't write you because..... if you want a response, please XYZ, so as to make it possible'

I get a letter, or a type that I get a lot of. The single line. 'U R HAWT. Read your profile, Love it. YoUR Master is a Lucky Man.'

Then I get another, a day later. 'I would have at least expected a response. Rude.'

please pardon me while I go bang my head against a nearby wall. Don't mind me, it's a counter-pain practice.

A man upset at being ignored (intentionally or otherwise)?! well now I have seen everything!  It's ok, if you had written back a 'thank but no thinks' or something he would have been equally annoyed at you...

I just, but yeah...not reading the profile...high on the pet peeve list...

DesFIP -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 7:05:41 PM)

You know better than to write back anyway, especially someone who thinks textspeech is the pinnacle of the written language.

You might try opening a new profile with just an extra number or letter added to your name. Unfortunately glitches like yours usually go on for months.

mrpibb -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 7:14:02 PM)

What kind of response could he have even been expecting from a message like that?  It's not like he left room for discussion or anything.

lovingpet -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 7:44:46 PM)

What I am amused by is the fact that the guy lied about reading the entire profile and yet did not leave a way to be contacted outside of cm mail.  Then outed himself by complaining about how rude it was to not get a reply.  Nevermind the rudeness of messaging someone when you have no idea what they are about because you didn't read the profile.  I understand the frustration and know the venting is needed.  At the same time, block/delete works well and gives folks less of a headache along with you.

Joins you in the head banging fun!

I love the e-mail where they claim they have read my profile and yet I know they haven't. I will e-mail back asking them to remove me from their mass e-mail list. Funny after that e-mail they go read my profile. Then I just block them. The block feature works well for me.

Or he'd have written back demanding to be told why you weren't interested.  And if you didn't reply to that, you'd have been "rude" again.

On the other hand, by whining about not getting a response, he proved conclusively that you were entirely right not to respond to him.  (Even if, in this case, it wasn't your choice).

When it comes down to it, its not even worth getting irate about.  The guy's patently a simpleton.  And his opinion matters not a jot.

ramalamaDingDong -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 7:58:55 PM)

I have 250 letters in my mail box right now and about 100 photos.  I have no idea what to do with all of this.  I am disappointed though, not one cock shot in the lot!

zakkan -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 8:36:06 PM)

Simple. Just say that you are in fact a gay trying to get some guy partner. 9 out of 10 the mails will stop instantly.

DomDolf -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 8:45:39 PM)

I am going to add my own little gripe... Women need to say more than a one line email to impress those of us worth a damn. And another thing. Lies are unacceptable, no matter what the reason. Find an honest way of deterring people. Okay, one more... Ladies, please do not provide the world with an overly personal statement or evidence of complete loss of control via your profile or journals. It completely turns some of us off. Okay, I feel better. Now I'm going to go look for a haaaaawty! LOL (God I hate text speech!!!!)

Dolf

zakkan -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 8:54:12 PM)

You really are the most honest person I've ever "met".

DomDolf -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 9:00:11 PM)

Please clarify what you mean.

zakkan -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 9:01:57 PM)

It was a compliment. You just don't seem to like lying, do you?

DomDolf -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 9:12:13 PM)

Thank you. Not even a little bit. I see no reason for it. The closest I will come to telling a lie is being silent and then only when speaking up serves no value, which is rare. A person without integrity is a liability.

Dolf

zakkan -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 9:15:37 PM)

Well, obviously I feel differently. I could tell you the reasons, but then it will be one of those rare cases where speaking up has no value [:D]

I think most of you are on the wrong track with Tsatske. Check her profile. She want's to be able to communicate with those who write her, but is having trouble. To Tsatske, what kind of technical glitch doesn't allow you to reply? Maybe if you explain here, someone can help you.

I've had the same issue, and what has worked for me is to close my account completely and then just re make it with the same exact name.

pompeii -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 11:30:51 PM)

This whole reading-your-profile thing has an interesting twist from a guy's perspective. As you well know, some of you (see above) have 250 mails awaiting your perusal, while we guys, well, at least "me guy", gets, if I'm lucky, one or three emails a month, on average. That, in and of itself, is a big difference with respect to pet peeves. We (by we, I mean "me") don't get those "U R Hawt" emails, as a general rule.

Secondarily, I do try to read a person's profile, I try to respond to those rare (very rare) few who've expressed an interest in me, and I invest in looking up their forum posts and I even google a bit for keywords related to their profiles to get to know them a bit before responding. Interestingly, and this is the flip side of the story here, some of you (and you know who you are and I will not out you) are actually taken aback, far aback, shocked actually, at how much I know about you simply by doing a bit of intelligent research (something I'm not too shabby at, at least when it comes to the free stuff available on the Internet).

In summary, the flip side of this coin, at least for me, is
a) We (me) don't get very many emails (one a week or so, if that) so it's hard for us to get annoyed at almost anything that's said to us, and,
b) We (again, me) do some research and, rarely (one in five or so), we get a "do I know you from somewhere" or a "you seem to know too much about me" kind of emails (you know who you are who have said this to me).

It's interesting. Very different the place our experiences lie in the spectrum.

pompeii -> RE: Another one of those (9/15/2008 11:33:07 PM)

PS. Send me a message and I'll tell you what I know about you (and no, this is not a ploy to pick up chicks ... altho it could be a good one if I didn't let the cat outta' the bag just now) ... :)
