Not being a slave, I can't speak about that first hand. I'm a sub and we love each other. For us, love has to be part of the equation. We both need it in our relationship to allow the relationship to deepen. I could do his laundry without him loving me. But I couldn't trust him to tie me up and hit me and use me sexually if I didn't know that he loved me enough to stop when I needed it stopped, as opposed to selfishly gratifying his own needs. Without love, he could go too far because he wouldn't care if I came back for more. With love, he does.

Nope, sorry. Once you're a slave you lose all rights a human being and have no right to feel anything at all unless told to. Love only exsists if your ALL POWERFUL OWNER tells you it can. Other than that you just be content with sitting naked in a cage until HE comes to check on you and use you since that's all a slave is good for. Silly people, thinking that slaves have basic human rights....pfft. [8\|]

I always wanted a workable definiton of love becasue I found the emotional, ooshy gooshy, love at first sight and love before someone even met, so unworkable and inappropriate. I found one ~~ Love ~~that is, the capacity to let go of ourselves, our fears, our hurts and weakness and place the other in the center.... Love is too often one sided and the definition above is as it should be giving and receiving. I am not sure if I could ever be in a relationship again where the capacity to let go of ourselves, our fears, our hurts and weakness and place the other in the center is not 2 sided. Why do you ask if a slave could love? Have you been taught that this is not workable? If a "master" cannot love himself, how can he love a slave?

This may be out of bounds for me but my two cents if I may..As a Master, husband I have ponder this question many times,In our relationship Diane has my heart, my love and still I feel bad for those that serve because this is the way I feel..Of course there is feeling for those we own but not the hot make your heart skip beats kind of romantic love I have for my wife....Masters are more often to fall in lust then love..Of course slaves/subs fall in love with their owners, if they didn't then they couldn't give their all..Just the views of this ol' master...bounty

I have always been partial to this definition. Try it on and see what you think. "Love is the subjective condition wherein the happiness of another person is essential to your own."

For me personally, I fall on the side of it being vital. Like DesFIP, I cannot truly surrender to someone I do not love. That level of total surrender that my submission becomes is about no walls, no fear of judgment, no holding anything back from my Master...for me to do that I must exist in an environment of not just love, but truly unconditional love. The wonderful thing about love is that the rule book does not limit us to loving only one person. I love several different people - in several different ways. That ability is what completes me.

To the OP, love can exist for anyone no matter what they label themselves as. Even when they never expected or planned for it. We are all human beings first and foremost. Well except for LA, she is the resident link Goddess and should be along shortly with a list of good threads for you.

I am assuming you asking whether a Master can be in love with his slave .. for some yes and what they want ..in their opinion it is what allows their slave to give their all completely...for other's they feel their feelings must limited to care and respect and consider their slave as property and feel that loving the slaves interferes with their ability to dominate... for myself I feel my need to be loved is essential to give myself totally as a result seek out those Dom's that feel love is important in a long term M/s or D/s relationship... it does not necessarily have to be the romantic type of love nor does it have to be in place at the onset ..but to keep me staying in the relationship and wanting to serve and grow I need to feel loved and cherished
