I am wayyyyyyyyy more okay with the far left controlling my country than I am the far right. The government does not belong in my bedroom, the far right would disagree.

Well being a moderate, I disagree with the far left being in charge.

In the bedroom, I agree.  However, I also think what happens behind closed doors, in the bedroom, should remain behind closed doors, unless of course it is in violation of the law.

But if the government being in the bedroom is the only issue, it would be an easy election, no?

If the bedroom was the only issue I have with the far right, I would be much more congenial towards them. However, that is only the ice cube on the very top of that iceberg.

Granted, however, the Far left and their ideologies are just as dangerous as the Far right, in my view.

Democratic mayors and Governors have been trying for decades to tax people out of poverty.  Has it worked?  They've tried taking Urban areas and sprucing them up?  It's worked to a degree, however, people still only travel sparcely to those areas because crime is still an issue.

I was disgraced during the Republican convention to learn that MSNBC was giving passes to Code Pinkers to get into the convention so they could be intentional disruptions.  That works for you?

The Huffington Post, The Daily Kos, Moveon.org, Code Pink...that's who runs rampant in the Democratic party.  They are JUST as bad as the religious fanatics sitting on the right.

Perhaps instead of being satisfied with someone, because they aren't someone else, we should demand a bit more?

Checks and balances Thadius...2 years being a very short blip on the political screen by the way...
And it hasn't even been two years. Of course, the right will never acknowledge that it's their filibustering obstructionist criminals who keep anything from happening on capitol Hill.

Nope, it always comes back to "Waaaah! Clinton got a blowjob! Waaaah!" [8D]

Oh give it a rest already.  Show me where anyone whined about Clinton getting a blowjob on this thread?  What's that?  You can't?  Didn't think so.

Kneejerk reactions like that are a BIG problem in politics.  In the energy bill, Mr. Obama voted to give something like 3.6 billion dollars to the oil companies....the very people he claims are robbing the American people.  Doublespeak?  Perhaps.

But the bottom line is, as obstructionist as Republicans are in Congress, so, too, are the Democrats.  None of those men and women are there for anyone else, but themselves.  And their voting records prove it.  They're party lines almost 90% of the time.

How's bi-partisanship working out for us?  It's only a phrase used to get people to vote.  But it rarely comes to fruition.

If paying higher taxes makes one patriotic...I should be on Mt. Rushmore!....

If I must pay more, I would be willing as long as there is some light at the end of the tunnel...and not like this continual land mine at present.

The only time I got a bit worried was when Warren Buffet said he wasn't so sure about how to fix this mess...I trust Mr. Buffet a lot more than I do Mr. George<the King of the no exit strategy>Bush. Folks, we could be in trouble!

Ben Stein on Larry King:
"But I'd like to see her locked up with somebody really smart in the world of economics like Warren Buffet, who, I'm sorry to say, is advising the other side. Maybe we could borrow him for a little while and have him explain to her just what's going on economically. I'd like to lock Mr. Buffet up with Mr. McCain too. I mean, they're getting incredibly bad advice from somebody about these tax cuts. They've got to get some sensible advice. Maybe Mr. Reich could care to meet them."

Well Hoodie in response to your "most liberal Senator, let me ask you something ,you claim to be a moderate ,you seem to agree with my assertion that the far right has been in power these last 8 years....would not a push to the left leave us somewhere closer to center...your avowed position..If it takes someone on the left to find the middle than so be it...checks and balances...corrections and adjustments...The American way!!!

Who has been running congress for the last 2 years again?  Unless you are referring to the far right of the Dem party...[8|]

There is no far right in the dems. I think that would have to be mods and most repubs feel they can sway some of those votes if necessary. Otherwise the repubs have 41 votes in the senate they can count on to fillibuster (from the golf course no less) every bill (failed to vote at all on a financial regulatory bill in 2005) the dems put out there.

I am hoping the dems get virtically integrated govt. with solid majorities this time just to see how they could possibly do worse than the last 6-8 yrs.

how about if the govt. gets responsible with my hard earned money before they try to take more of it away from me?  that might go a long way.

Works for me.  The only problem comes in when you try to define responsible.  Is it more responsible to fund the war in Iraq or to fund Social Security?  Is it more responsible to dole out billions in foreign aid or to spend that money on projects in this country.  I'm not advocating either way, only suggesting there is no clear-cut definition of responsible.

Please hoodie point out my use of the word pariah...and I take offence at your depiction of my championing the Democrats.I am for this particular candidate at this particular time and place, and as  a result of watching 8 years of the most inept reprehensible governing it has been my displeasure to witness. Now if you think any of us have been well served by the current crop of misfits and rich boys sons running things these last 8 years vote for McSame....me I'm going the other way and giving the other guy a shot...lord knows he can't possibly do any worse...

laughs.... oh so because you haven't used the word...the meaning isn't there?  My gosh... splitting hairs much?

You take offense?  So you mean to tell me in the last 8 years there isn't a SINGLE thing a Republican official ANYWHERE has done that's right?  That's basically what you've been saying.  So if you aren't championing Democrats..what is it?

I'm pretty much have no dog in this fight.  I'm astounded that these two clowns are the best my country can offer up.  To me that is FAR telling than the Rep. or Dem. brand combined.  Giving the other guy a shot is good.  However, you're deluded if you think the other guy will get a damned thing done.

Politicians, and I see it on a daily basis at the state level, are only out for their careers.  And Obama is no different.  Change doesn't come from just changing policies.  Change comes from getting the stagnant water out of the pool.  Congress is the stagnant water.  The Capitol is the pool.

So you can feign offense all you'd like.  I've seen your castigation of anything Republican, and it makes me sick.  The parties aren't to blame.  It's the people in Washington who are.  When you take on those asshats, then we'll have something to talk about.  And I mean Democrat and Republican alike.

You're one sided banter on this issue is quite telling.
Hoodie I am distressed at the thought nof making you sick(sarcasm). What you have seen is my castigation directed at the current crop of Reublicans in office, and if they haven't made you sick over the last 8 years...you have nothing to fear from anything I have said....The Republican party IMO has been hijacked by the religous right and the neo-cons,a little bit like the tail wagging the dog.Case in point this years standard bearer McSame chose as his running mate a totally unqualified little know Gov.of an under populated state...why... to pander to the core(re: fringe) elements of his party...and yes Hoodie that makes me sick!!!!

And believe it or not.... ready.. I agree with you.  The fringe elements of BOTH parties have taken them hostage.

However what makes me sick is that you're willing to give the Fringe Democrats the right to be at the helm, and then you say they couldn't do any worse?  Obama as been labeled the most Liberal with his voting record, and that's according to CNN's "Reality Check" this morning.  A study was done last year, and I'll have to go find the name of them. At the moment cold medicine is pushing that detail to oblivion.  But you're ok with that?

I'm not.

"And believe it or not.... ready.. I agree with you.  The fringe elements of BOTH parties have taken them hostage."

That`s a bunch of crap.

We know the GOP is run by the fundie/neo-cons.McCain won the nomination in part,by rejecting those elements of his party. Now he`s fully in bed with them, hence Palin.

What "fringe" elements control the democrats?Everyone from John Dean right on down, are pretty normal people. Not an extremist that I can name.

Can you?

Names please, and their position in the party?

People who claim both parties are equally f-ed up, either have an agenda(right-wing) or aren`t paying attention.
