puppen -> Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/24/2008 9:08:01 AM)

>;(

I've been searching high and low for a pattern to create a long-sleeved leotard out of lycra/spandex fabric for o'er an age and I've come up cold.

Do you know of any free sites I can dredge one up? I've exhausted google, and I don't have the patience to flip through a book all day long to find the pattern I need.

I've only got a good fifteen days to finish the suit, skirt, and mermaid tail (lord almighty dun ask) and I'm stumped!

HELL, if you can draw a pattern for me, I'd be ridiculously grateful.

I'm giving myself until the end of the week to locate the suit pattern because some snitty little trollop came to my home and DESTROYED all 12 feet of my spandex that I had to special order. Needless to say, had to RE-order.

Little snit. [sm=blasted.gif]

Thaaaaanks again.

here is a link for a pattern you can order:

whatever you do, be sure and buy needles for stretch material.  it will make your life a lot easier when it comes time to sew.

[>:] Hummmmmm...

Looks right.

I just don't know if I can stand waiting for a frippin' pattern to show it's ugly face.

Pup...keep it simple. Either go to E_bay or a store that sells dance wear. The fabric the bodysuit is made of (spandex) is difficult to work with and needs a special needle (and possibly a special footer...depending on your machine).

So...just wondering...

does the Holly sewing involve less injury and peril than the Holly cooking?

<cringing at the notion of sewing spandex>

Puppen, check dancewear stores, definitely,  www.dancedistributors.com  has an array of stuff, and you will be really glad that you spent the time on the deep aggro of the fish tail.

HOW did I ever do costuming?  I think I was insane.  [8|]

See, you have a skill. Where can I get one?

puppen -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/25/2008 10:03:51 AM)

But, it's like, super thin spandex.

And I HAVE to make it ALL. [:o]

sirsholly -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/25/2008 11:35:59 AM)

the thinner the spandex the more difficult to work with. My advice is to go to a fabric shop (not the fabric dept in Walmart) and take the spandex with you. There are special needles, footers and threads you may have to have.

Also, they have pattern books which would probably have what you are looking for.

hug!!

Tissue paper will be your friend...I forgot to mention using the tissue between the fabric and the presser foot!

--You guys must be tired of me bringing this thing back to life--

Alright, alright... BUGGAR.

I'll take this big ol' strip of fabric to the store with me today and make some inquiries.

...Flipping hate the fabric stores. All run by crabby old bitches. [>:]

puppen -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 6:49:19 AM)

Yes.

Her side job from working as Satan's urnial is spent haunting various fabric stores and telling me, "We ain't got no chiffon!"

sirsholly -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 6:50:52 AM)

[sm=Groaner.gif]oh Pup...pweeeeze stay the hell away from chiffon

VirginPotty -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 6:52:51 AM)
