when you are at the fabric store...ask for a special needle for chiffon

Oooo, Needle Play!!!!!

chiffon is soft, pretty and wrinkle free.

You're safe.

Shimmer peacock chiffon!!  See, that's why I stay the hell away from fabric stores.

Of course, it means I shop for a hell of a lot of yarn... [8|]

windchymes -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 11:19:50 AM)

puppen sweetie.....I've been sewing since the 70's, and came from a long line of sewers and seamstresses....trust me and the others here who are advising you.....trying to sew thin, stretchy fabric on a regular sewing machine is going to be a total nightmare for you.  Even with the special needles, I couldn't get it to work the one time I tried...and I've sewed bridesmaid dresses, men's suits (well, one...never do that again), children's costumes, etc. etc.

What you might try is sewing it all by hand with small stitches....which will be a royal pain in the ass and take forever....but spandex on a machine is just not going to be easy, to put it mildly.

cause all along we have been telling you what special SEWING MACHINE needles, footers, etc to get. We all assumed you had a machine.
Pup...if you have never used a sewing machine...this is not the time to learn.

Puppen... so what exactly is your level of sewing experience?

Cali

Knit one, pearl two.

Ahhhhh, fuck it!!!!!  Damn button fell off..................!!!!!!!![sm=blasted.gif]

thornhappy -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 2:49:09 PM)

I second the idea of not learning on something like spandex or chiffon.  It's hard enough to learn on something like cheap muslin!

This reminds me of my first project. A pink top that I managed to make too big even after a day of measuring. Aye, what a disaster!

sirsholly -> RE: Anyone out there with sewing know-how? (9/26/2008 2:55:37 PM)

Pup...go out and buy a dance suit in a few sizes too large. Cut it open at all the seams and resew it by hand...no one will know!!
