Quick reply- The really great thing about these CM debates is you get to see who is closed-minded, who is brain washed, who lives in a fantasy land and who is totally off their rocker. I wish it was this easy to spot all these types in the real world.

The funny thing (or sad thing, depending on your point of view) is that each side will assume that you're talking about the other side.  And the whirlly-gig goes on.

That is a very wise statement. I expect exactly that.

Hey, I happen to be COMPLETELY off my rocker, bat-shit insane, and even I stay out of the political bullshit normally.  (There was this one time, but I think that just left everyone even more confused about me)

General reply to the topic at hand -

In terms of all the various plots, sub-plots and nefarious dealings of this campaign season, whether the debate is post-poned or not does not rank high on my list of important moments.  The wheeling and dealing on how to solve this financial crisis is not likely to be concluded by the end of the week or the end of the month.  My feeling is that the whole debacle will stretch out for weeks adding more fuel to the fires in any future debates.

Regardless of whatever party you affiliate with,
our problems right now, transcend partisian squabbles.
Sort of like arguing on the Titanic while the ship is sinking.

Right now, the U.S.A. is in a bad fucking way, and our situation is not pretty.

          To the OP

It's a risky move, but right in keeping with McC's 'country first' theme.  Short term, it opens him up to a lot of crap and bad spin.  It might cost him the easy victory in the foreign policy debate, but if it works, he can slap Barry with it the rest of the way through.  When we get to that domestic policy debate Barry is supposed to clean his clock in, McC will be able to ask where he was when every head in the Senate was needed.  Was he just planning to vote "present" again?

This could pay off very well.  At this point, my vote is between him, and the guys who created South Park.  He's pulling ahead.

I don't believe we have much that time, Ven.  The wall has started falling.  We brace it fast, or it comes down.  As we cannot undue the decision to invade Iraq, the decision that is made now, will be the one we are stuck with.

Thanks.

(I love external validation)

Be careful, though, because when you hold yourself above the fray you tend to get bounced around like a beach ball.

If I have learned anything on these forums, it is that everybody is confused about everybody else.

I love this! McCain blew it stratospherically there: Friday's debate is still going on, but now he looks like a moron for having suggested it be postponed in the first place. YES!
Having had a "head's up!" from a fellow Progressive elsewhere, I tuned in to Letterman tonight. McCain cancelled his appearance, claiming he had to rush off to the airport to deal with this crisis. Evidently he got lost, because he was filmed real-time at Katie Couric's studio just down the hall. Letterman offered him a ride to the airport.
[sm=LMAO.gif][sm=LMAO.gif][sm=LMAO.gif]  still laughing.

Ah yes! The only thing I know is that I know nothing. The beginning of wisdom. Whatever disagreements we may have you are a man after my own heart.

Okay, I’m going to bed now, before I go into full blown guru on the mountain mode.

DomKen -> RE: McCain suspends campaign temporarily... (9/24/2008 10:39:52 PM)

It appears McCain canceled his scheduled appearance on Letterman becaus eof the suspension of his campaign. He didn't have time to make the taping because he was flying to D.C. immediately... or maybe not.

Vote McCain, for more of the same.

I listened to the man last night and he seemed to be like an extra in the Night Of The Living Dead. I was beginning to wonder if he had a pulse because he brain didn't seem to be working or at least it wasn't connected to his mouth. The man just bumbles along and doesn't seem to have a clue what needs to be done. Maybe he just employs lousy advisers.

Obama could tie his shoes and you wouldn't like it.

Could this be it?

We've often speculated that Bush would pull some kind of shit at the last minute, in order to step in, stop the election, and place himself in power for an unelected third term...

The whole financial crisis seems to be something that was set in motion....

Could this finally be "Bad King George's" attempt at taking over the US via coup?

Im curious what would have to happen for him to be able to keep his seat.

Meanwhile, Moose can't think of anything significant Squirrely has done in his 26 year "career" as a pig at the trough.

Moose says, "John McCain! He's our man! If he can't do it, nobody can!"

Sorry I missed the interview now.  I could have used the comic relief.

You might have been able to cut her some slack on the first one, but I don't know what to say to people who can't see what an airhead this woman is after the latest laughfest.
