Well thank you Thadius, I found it on the link to the Washington Post.
It lasted 12 minutes, at the end of his speech I found myself humming,
"Ain't too proud to beg".

It reminded me of the quacking of a duck.

Pelosi and Reid should hammer out a RTC type plan and let McCain vote against it and GWB veto it.

Mz Mia, I could not bring myself to watch.  He blew his credibility on the lies for the Patriot Act and the Iraq War.

It is enough for me to read the transcripts and not have to listen to listen directly to his bull-shit anymore.

As bad as it is, Vendaval, I have to watch.
The world as we know it could be crumbling before our eyes.
I never really thought I would live in a depression era, I might
just see one.

He burned through his credibility years ago.

His speech said nothing new.

There's a chance the bill will fail altogether.  There's also a good chance that the bill will be a lot less than $700 bil.  The GOP is bucking it strongly and is demanding to have some assurance that Paulson and Bernanke have a clue, and so far they haven't gotten a reply.

I didn't even watch it.
He's just an idiot with a "degree" from "YALE."
That's one school I hope closes it's doors forever.
Hopefully Bush will be taking Sen. Lindsey Graham with him!

At the end of each term I always wonder why anyone wants to be President, they all look so haggard. He is correct unfortunately, about the overall situation, it is how it gets fixed that I disagree with. There cannot be any "blank checks"
there cannot be any golden parachutes,  and the first(if any) profits had better come cback to those of us paying the bill!
If my business fails tomorrow no one will lose but me! there will be no one at present to turn to for the cash, no one to pay my employees. I believe in responsibility for oneself but, I am not so sure that there shouldn't be something for those that lose their homes and jobs. George is trying to do the right thing (I think) just not so sure he is the one I want making the policy that corrects the situation.

Bethnai -> RE: What did you think of President Bush's speech on the economy tonight? (9/25/2008 3:42:09 AM)

I watched it.  The are two things that over time I have heard repeatedly that infuriate me.

Many mortgage lenders approved loans for borrowers without carefully examining their ability to pay. Many borrowers took out loans larger than they could afford, assuming that they could sell or refinance their homes at a higher price later on.

I have also heard that many of them were "minorities".

There were a lot of people that lost jobs.  I don't think that a lot of them saw that coming.  I think that by the time that they figured it out it was too late.

Edited to add: I forgot the second one. If I remember it, I'll come back to it.

What did you think of President Bush's speech on the economy tonight?
President Bush was very somber and seemed to make an effort to explain
the gravity of our current economic COLLAPSE.

I did listen to a few commentaries on the speech, and a few have characterized
President Bush's speech tonight as pleading and desperate.

Any opinions on President Bush's speech tonight?

It will rank up there with the Gettysburg address.

At this point, there's absolutely nothing that man could have said to make the public respect him.  He is so far past the point of no return.

"I have nothing to fear , in fact, I can't wait to get back to the ranch and kick back, but, y'all are in deep shit."

bipolarber -> RE: What did you think of President Bush's speech on the economy tonight? (9/25/2008 9:02:33 AM)

He forgot to wear the flightsuit, and have a banner behind him that read "GREAT DEPRESSION II ACCOMPLISHED!"

Seriously, I tuned over to watch the Food Channel for 10 minutes... looks like I missed the speech by the time I flipped back... Wow, the biggest financial crisis in US history since possibly the Wall Street crash that kicked off the Great Depression, and he gives us exactly 10 minutes of his time, mostly to recap what we all already knew.

Hang on to your wallets everyone! It's going to be a bumpy weekend!

Bill Clinton said of President Bush's speech that it was a very clear explanation of why we're in the fix we're in and that he had a "very good" reaction to it.

Although, I have to admit... it is rather nice of Bush to cut his speeches down to within Youtube posting parameters...  (it makes them kinda like a wisdom tooth extraction... painful, nessecary, but luckily quick.)
