No it wouldn’t (and don’t forget, we also lost Richard Biggs). Straczinski lamented how Andreas’ chain smoking worried many but also that it was funny to see a Narn puffing away on a cig. Once, when a group of elementary school kids was touring the sets, Straczinski pointed to Andreas (in full make up and puffing away) and said, “see kids, that’s what will happen to you if you smoke.”
I agree that B5 was, hands down, the best sci-fi show ever (nice to know that there is something we can agree on). I love the show’s philosophy of how neither Order nor Chaos is good on it’s own but that we need to achieve a balance between the two.
