In fact I do. Let them fail and deal with their own damn mess. And the senators in question are traitors as far as I am concerned. I realize they are meeting and such, but they have staffers to do the email jig, and to get a message saying they are not accepting emails is a slap in the face.

Ah. We're in soundbite land. I thought we were following the issue as it evolved.

Reid and Dodd. Staunch Bush supporters. Got it. Making a note of it.

I let a similar charge go before, but Jesus, you are an idiot.

People who disagree with a proposal rammed down their throats, despite their Constitutional responsibility to examine it closely are "traitors"?

What about Reagan defying the Congress illegally in the Iran/Contra scandal?

Not to mention funding Osama bin Laden.

And isn't the POINT of Congress to debate issues---yes, even when politically charged?

We here in America call it democracy. When everyone just agrees with what they're told to think, that's a dictatorship.

Or the Rush Limbaugh show.

Geez.

ok...Dodd & Reid stated this morning that the bail out proposal they wanted last night was a good one.  all democrats, the speaker of the house, the president & other "key" republicans were all for it until McCain and the House came marching in!
the plan they had sucked!  the taxpayers didn't like it, didnt want it...no part of it!  it equaled $10,000 per household!

Which point I made in a post two days ago.

I suggested they should send it to you.

Reading first. A good thing.

not to mention students wont go to school because banks wont lend the money.

[sm=agree.gif]

You may not like it, hell, I don't like it, but we'll only get screwed worse if it doesn't go through.

Geez.

Its not called a dictatorship or Limbaugh, its called what a lot of people think.
And anyone who has anything to do with this pile of crap bailout is a traitor, the bankers, the fed, anyone.
And yes, Reagan was a traitor.
those who funded alqueda, traitors.
and what they do isn't debate, its petty hand wringing horse shit.

I'm sorry you think I am an idiot, I really do.
But I feel the same way about you, and yet not once have I resorted to an attack on you until now.
If you are such a sage, then you tell us all what is wrong and convince me and millions of others who grumble about the bastards in our hallowed buildings.

There is no money. If you throw up a $700 billion dollar hit to the national debt, it will destroy the currency and you could see a crash of the dollar.

All this bailout will achieve is moving the water to a different section of the sinking boat.

So we should let the boat sink and try to salvage it later?

Which do you think will cost more?

TNstepsout -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 2:20:50 PM)

Well it's too bad that so many people see this as a finger pointing issue and are willing to go down with the ship to prove their point. How many of you who don't support this plan wrote letters to their Congressmen 3-4 years ago urging them to step in and regulate the banks? Did any of you offer to support those lonely voices who were attempting to get the attention of someone who could do something about this mess before it became a mess? Or did you just enjoy the benefits of the booming economy with no thought as to where it was all coming from? You can point fingers at Wall Street and point fingers at bankers and point fingers at Congress and Democrats and Republicans and George Bush etc.... but ALL of us benefited from the boom in the economy and now we have to pay the price. Looks like that price is 10k per household.

let me explain this to you.  i have no need for your insults.  i do not know you and you do not know me.

i simply do not believe that the democrats or the republicans can bail us out of this now.  the bail out will probably not work.  it is a bandaid on a huge ass boil that is eventually gonna burst & cover us all in shit.

so bough to your "One" that is your knight in shining armour.  once he is potus, everything will be fine..yeah fine!..LOL!

bestbabync -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 2:23:33 PM)

Musicmystery -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 2:27:48 PM)

OK.

Let's hear your solutions, guys.

I'm reading nothing but unsupported rants about why everything sucks.

What should we do? Why should we do it? How do we know it will work?

Convince us morons.

NumberSix -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 2:39:08 PM)

Just before thanksgiving last year we had a spate of posts like this:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_679621/mpage_1/tm.htm

After perusing the polo boards here quickly, I have to wonder if we are not ALL Democrats now.

One possible solution, would be for banks to get their ass out of their swivel chairs, their feet out of the wastebasket and  take equity positions in some of these bad loans in terms of companies, and perhaps in terms of personal mortgages, and find a way to right them from the aspect of equity rather than the aspect of usury, first of all, it removes loads of liabilities off their balance sheets and turns it into equity, and (supposed financial acumen) is brought to the table, and there is a greater reason to find a win-win solution, and that won't cost us as much.

Uncollected usury (insofar as I am aware of under GAAP) would not qualify as equity reserves, not ever.

You've heard mine.

I think it has to go through, not necessarily as Bush proposed it with free reign for the Treasury Dept. to administer, but if something isn't done it will get worse.

Too many people are letting their emotions get in the way of sound judgement.

It's one thing to be pissed about what's happened, it's another thing to recognize that there has to be a solution before it spirals out of control.

With proper oversight, the plan is the best I've seen offered so far.

And this is from someone who is no fan of Bush or his Administration.

well there have been several threads & post about third party options for the voters.  i have even mentioned several third party candidates.  so i will let you seek & find just as i did.

cjan -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 3:15:04 PM)

This doesn't surprise me. Does it surprise y'all ?

So, 60% are uninformed  mouth breathing, gum snapping morons who are easily manipulated by politicians, corporations, advertisers  preachers and other hucksters because they are too lazy to make the effort to educate themselves and consistently vote  (when they do vote ) against their own best interest.

Ask them to name their Congressional representatives and they draw a blank. But, ask them who is in the running for American Idol or is gonna win Survivor and everybody can name the players.

Raechard -> RE: Poll: Only 30% of Americans support a bailout (9/26/2008 3:30:43 PM)

Do 30% of American's have a mortgage sold on to one of these financial organisations?

Whose debt is it really? Those that can't keep up with their payments, you are all paying for that 30% who can't managed a bank balance. I wish I had a licence to print money like the US government. How much debt can one nation get into?
