For anyone too blind to see it, there was NO deal on a bailout when McCain came back to Washington.  The Congressional Republicans were in NO WAY in agreement on this.  McCain did what Obama should have done, which is to suspend the campaign, if for no other reason, than to focus the media on DC, and not split with DC and following two campaigns.  As far as the loaded up bill...I hope it goes nowhere until they strip from it provisions for the corrupt ACORN group, and demands that union bosses sit on boards of companies that are involved, as well as any other Christmas ornament.  This is too important to be anything other than a clean bill that the taxpayer can understand.
Is there some sort of shortage of media....I hadn't heard anything about this!

Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians.  I think it's the only way to make any kind of change, even if some good politicians get voted out as well.

Who lied to you and told you there's been anything remotely resembling a Good politician in the past... ever?  The only "good" politician is a Dead politician.

My NSHO : NO BAILOUT.  Period.  At all.  For any of them.  They go bancrupt, to bad for them - just like it is for everyone else, what remains of their assets sold for pennies on the dollar and them completely out of business.  No rewards, no golden parachutes, just indignity and scorn and shame.  And a fast, ugly, unblindfolded firing squad for ANY politician that attempts to give them said bailout.

At the very least, that would guarentee that this decade finally had some "Good" politicians.

i agree hizgeorgiapeach!!!
the asshole politicians should be sent the message that we plan to fire their asses and replace them with non-politicians if they vote for the damn bailout!

No no no... not "if they vote for the bailout" - that we plan to Fire Them, period.  No mercy, no quarter, no reprieve - just a bit of Justice for a change.  Especially since everyone is clamoring for "change" this election cycle.

edited to add : They also need to be Forced to understand - they're loosing their jobs one way or the other - whether they remain Alive to find a Different job is what's going to be decided by the way they cast their vote on the bailout...

SilverMark -> RE: Democrats trying to force pork into bailout bill (9/27/2008 8:11:29 PM)

It is always the same...it's always someone else Congressman..."Mine is alright...look what he has done for our district"....
I have known of Republicans and Democrats never sponsoring a single piece of legislation but with a great constituents services department they get re-elected every 2 years. Dams, bridges, roads, etc. etc. etc. It happens in every district by all brand of Congress person.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Democrats trying to force pork into bailout bill (9/27/2008 8:35:34 PM)

Regardless your position on earmarks....

Any profit that is gained by this by the government needs to go back to the US treasury. This is essentially $700 billion dollars of debt barrowed against the taxpayers.

If the government makes a profit, they need repay the treasury, not give money to ACORN so they can go out and commit more voter fraud for the Democratic party.

Those of you who do not know what ACORN is, I suggest you do some research. The leaders of this group are textbook socialist thugs. The tactics they use would make Bolsheviks jump with joy.

Democrats better be careful. There isnt going to be any George W. Bush to point blame to in 2010 and 2012 if things dont get better. If the country is still in financial meltdown in 2010, Democrats will be the ones on the chopping block next. And I doubt Obama will change anything. He used to work for ACORN. The guy is an empty suit with no experience and has a socialist agenda. The Democrats sealed their fate when they nominated Obama. They will be kicked out of Congress. It is only a matter of which election cycle.

Obama has a socialist background? President Bush will sometime early next week sign the biggest piece of socialist welfare for the rich and priviliged in the history of the republic.Stop worrying about Obama's past and pay attention to Bush's present....

kittinSol -> RE: Democrats trying to force pork into bailout bill (9/27/2008 9:00:24 PM)

Let's settle this: Bush is a bit of a fascist. McCain is a lesser fascist. Obama's not so much of a fascist. Hey presto! Peace.

Actually, this is a common fallacy. Since 2002, the Republican party - specifically, John McCain and others - had warned us no less than 17 times that an economic crisis was increasingly likely as the subprime scandal took off.

Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5tZc8oH--o for more information on the root of the problem.

Interesting to note, guess who's received the most money - ever - from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? That'd be Obama.

Finally, the Democrats, being in the Majority, do not even need the Republicans to pass the bailout bill. So why on earth are they waiting around for them? Cause they need to be able to claim complicity should something go wrong.

Always handy to have those Republicans around to dump on should the shit hit the fan from this. No one bothers to check further.
