So you have conceeded 2008 to Obama?

I was just running with your hypothetical, but...

Mike, I have been saying for a very long time, under this nic and my previous one, that this years election is practically a default to the Dems.  Theirs to lose.  However, I keep overestimating how stupid they cannot possibly be.

I knew on my way to the party a couple years ago that my Seahawks were going to the lose the Superbowl.  I rooted for them anyway.  I don't know how many candidates and ballot measures I've involved myself with over the years, but the ones I knew all along were going to lose, far outnumber the winners.

I only have one real wish for the outcome next month.  I want it clear, and decisive.  I don't think Barack Obama is right or ready for the job he wants, but it's not like I'm going to pack up and move if he wins.

I was getting ready to throw you a going away party.... hopefully you can get used to having a black man for a president... the same way you encouraged me to get used to having a woman VP... it just looks increasingly unlikely I will ever have Bullwinkle's murderer as a VP[;)]

Julia, that may be the snottiest, most insulting and baseless remark you have ever made to me.  Which is saying something.  I can only imagine the fit of outrage you would throw over something like that.

I'll encourage you to go find a Health and Safety thread on extra-large insertions to assist in putting that statement the only place it belongs.

      Bye.

Hell, "Jimmuh Cottuh" proved that.

Native Georgian on board!
There's a difference between having an accent and not being capable of stringing sentences and thoughts together in order to form a coherent answer to a simple question... "What publications do you read?" ...for example.

corysub -> RE: Low expectation as they apply to Palin (10/1/2008 8:16:59 PM)

Biden is so much more informed than Palin.  He has been in Congress since he was 29, when Sarah was in second grade.
Perhaps part of Sarah's prep for the debate should include Biden's comments on American history, what is leadership, and how one responds to a crisis as President.  The "Youtube" link should be required study by all of us....

You're quoting Palin verbatim. The problem with this tactic is that McCain has been in the Senate for quite a few years too. Attacking Biden for what the top of the Republican ticket is 'guilty' of is beyond silly.

Edit. for claridad.

Actually it was a joke... like you telling me to get used to a female vice president... or don't you remember that? Aren't you the one that accused me of being too serious? Seriously!

And Sinergy wanted me to add... get used to having an intelligent president.

Almost like suggesting Palin lacks the experience, huh?

Oh, Palin can learn on the job, what the hell!
Look how great President Bush has been doing, she will keep up

his great work!

She's done pretty well at that in the positions she's held so far, Mia.  And I like her instinctive reaction when she encounters corruption as well.

Okay Rich, can we talk?
I think Palin is as cute as a button, and I enjoy listening to her.

She should have a talk show on t.v.
But Rich, come on now....
as President or Vice-President of the United States??????
Many in the Republican party recognize someone made a big mistake,

by selecting her.
There are some great websites all things Sarah, lol, enjoy!
I expect many great contributions after the debate tomorrow night.

That could certainly be said of the corrupt administration that put her on the oil and gas commission, Mia. [:D]

I believe he made a mistake in thinking that they could pluck her out of nowhere and plop her onto the national stage with virtually no preparation.  While I have no doubt she's politically savvy, she doesn't seem to be particularly quick on her feet when it comes to issues.  Her handlers haven't done well by her - they haven't made the most of her strengths.  They should have taken a page out of Jesse Ventura's playbook.  Jesse wasn't up on every issue but he turned it to his advantage.  That he didn't have positions on some issues meant that he was going to listen to what the voters had to say.  Admitting that he wasn't an expert gave him a stable spot from which to question the professed expertise of his opponents. I think that Palin might have been able to pull this off.

It's still a long way from Nov 4, anything could happen, but I suspect that Palin will be a net loss for the McCain campaign.

This is fantastic analysis, very well presented. If you don't mind my saying so, you are one of the best posters on this board, when it comes to talking politics.

My thanks ... caitz

That's below your usual level of gross exageration.

Jimmy Carter is a very intelligent man. Simply examine the details of his naval career and try and argue otherwise. Being selected to be one of the pioneers in nuclear submarines is quite an accomplishment as was his succcessful turn around of the family's peanut farm.

Well, if it gets to bad, pop a dvd in the player. Spewing isn't fun.

You'll find that experience has been used as euphemism for intelligence, actually. But it would have been too brutal to be so direct. After all, we all have to be mindful that Palin is a fragile little flower [8|] .

LaTigresse -> RE: Low expectation as they apply to Palin (10/2/2008 9:32:56 AM)

One of those cheap polyester fake flowers comes to mind. The kind that melts when things get too hot.
