South America, in a heartbeat.

I love my country, I do.  But there is so much that doesn't resonate to me.  I am looking for a way to recapture my love for the USA, but I gotta tell you, after traveling the world and seeing how screwed up our people have made our country, lots of other places are looking better.

I call the USA the place of blame fear and perfection.

We are litigious and blame others for our own mistakes, not taking responsibility (quote of W:  Mistakes were made)
Fear is everywhere from don't have dandruff cause people will think poorly of you to the medical system that fears the absolute reality of death which makes life worth living.
And perfection.... diets, plastic surgery, and god forbid there be a scratch on your car.  All this while millions of people are without basic health care and dying because of it.

And on top of all that, the entire world ridicules us and despises us.  We are bullies the world over.  It is sad and embarassing to be a US citizen.  I can't defend my country's actions, and THAT makes me sad.

Nice attitude Mike.  You come on here every few months and post.  You seem so depressed and sad.  I feel sorry for you, I really do.  But you need to start being a man.  Your situation is not going to get better here or anywhere until you start being a man.  Stop being a punk and start standing up against the world.

I dunno Michael, get a job or 2 (like some of us) and make your life better.  It is possible, but sometimes it takes a lot of hard work.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 1:57:36 PM)

Pathetic, really pathetic.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 1:58:45 PM)

ok, turning this over to the public and backing away. it was meant as a place for others to post views and i let it get out of hand...thank you all. enjoy the question. (LAST POST ON THIS TOPIC)

There comes a point in time when it is best to stop reading certain people's posts. They don't change, they just bring you down.

I feel like I missed a crucial scene. Did someone loose the plot?

Evility -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 2:05:29 PM)

If I really wanted to leave I could. You could, too. I like it here - get the hell out if you don't.

Ticket to Ireland.. one way please...

thegirlincharge -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 2:09:22 PM)

I have travelled quite a bit and love it but, there is nothing like being home and home will always be the USA for me.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 2:12:48 PM)

hello michael,
you asked what I thought was an interesting question.  As a person whose joy is travel, I wanted to respond.  You thought we would just say yes no maybe so?  I believe in backing up my words when a serious question is asked.  And that is just what I did.

Anyone who has read my posts knows I have become more rah rah about the USA, but that doesn't mean I dont see her faults.  I would be a fool if I just said hooray USA! when the world says something totally different.

If you try to control how people respond, you will be frustrated.  Frustrated in a not fun way.

Good luck,
sunshine

See, that's cool. For me, home is where I make it. Never had a feeling that a place was home... maybe it's a genetic thing and I have nomadic DNA.

Raechard -> RE: Just A Curious Question... (9/30/2008 2:13:34 PM)

I just watched a programme about British border patrol and they were stopping commuters in London and asking them if they have the right to remain in the UK. I found it outrageous I'm a bit sad we do that, I mean who would be the ones picked for this questioning? If they questioned me I wouldn't be able to prove I had the right to remain here since I don't carry around documents that prove any entitlement. Once upon a time people used to assume people had rights now people have to prove they have the right to rights with some kind of I.D. Border patrol should be restricted to the border IMO.

Yeah if they stopped me I'd have to ask them to return me to my rightful home of errm Monaco.[8|]

I don't think they'll be stopping me somehow.

don't have to wait for my answer, i would move in a heartbeat...just not sure where i would move as yet...maybe Europe or Australia

Don't pack your bags just yet.

Australia has restrictions on who they allow to migrate into their country.  If you're not bringing a business or significant fiscal means with you, you're not being sponsored by an Australian business or marrying someone who has Austrailian citizenship, you need to be classified as a 'skilled migrant' before you'll be considered.  I would imagine there are similar rules for countries in the EU.

sorry, don't want my hard earned tax dollars going to more waste.  if people don't like it here, then they can get creative and self reliant and get out themselves, why should it become my problem?

This is my country and if we run we are as much to blame as the government fuck ups however I would go back to the ranch in Berlitz in a heart beat if my baby would was open to relocation full time, is this a contradiction, to some it may seems so but I bleed red ,white and blue and have proven it several times in the little shit holes around the world that our government has chosen to engage them self in.....,
