I am sick of politics, and I am sick of the offerings of current music artists. I am a big fan of older country music (I think the new stuff is pop music, and it sucks.) I was sitting here listening to one of my favorite songs Amarillo by Morning by George Strait, and the idea of this thread came to me. We've had a few threads on rock artists, so I thought I'd be different and rear my hillbilly head. I love Hank Williams, Red Sovine, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard, and many others. Any thoughts?

Yup, you can't go wrong with Willie Nelson. Also, Tanya Tucker, Reba McIntire, and Dolly. Oh, and the late great Chet Atkins.

Johnny Cash. Nobody finer. I'm an Aaron Tippin fan. Saw him two years ago, voice isn't what it used to be but still great. Funny story. I have a Hank Sr. cd somewhere in the car. Back when the ums were smaller and had a lot of difficulty behaving in the car, the worst punishment around was putting in the cd which is a greatest hits and loaded with yodeling songs. Even the threat of playing old Hank yodeling could get the most out of control um back under control for five more minutes.

Almost anything from the 50s 60s and 70s.. The new stuff sucks. They call it country music but it isn't anything close to me..Sirius radio has 2 great channels with Country Classics.. John Anderson had some great songs. Remember ' I'm just an old piece of coal, but I'm gonna be a diamond some day".....

I have one album that is on the old 78 speed. I have two Johnny Cash albums from Sun.

George Strait did a really nice version of Terry Stafford's Amarillo. I like Willie et al. Hank Sr., Bob Wills, Ray Charles, Ernest Tubb, and many others.
