Right. Hilary Clinton is only a Yale Law School graduate, and one of the most influential lawyers in America. She's only been senator for New York for eight years.

She's obviously in the same intellectual league as Miss Caribou [8|] .

PS: Mike, I like it when you talk my kinda language [8D] .

Kittin, don't say that too loudly, yer man Bush went to "YALE" too!

Who is this Bush you speak of?

Hell, I'd elect Palin to God, over an Obama Presidency.

Pssssst.....are you sure she hasn't already won that one?

Ask yourself why someone running for the number 2 position of power would even have a yahoo email account? To me, that is incredibly out of protocol for someone aiming for the VP position. I truly believe the hacked email account only existed so she could have an unofficial conduit for communication with her religious friends.  When you call or email any governor, the communications are logged and become a matter of state record. That email account was a backdoor for the church friends to bypass the switchboard so the contacts remained out of sight. The fact that she didnt have the sense to shut it down once she stepped up to the VP plate says alot. Maybe that mistake was the "small town America" thinking in her.

She is the poster child of our nation's redneck movement engaged in culture war with the educated.  She asks for privacy surrounding her daughter's pregnancy, yet she is only on the ticket because of her beliefs that the pregancy of YOUR daughter should be a matter of the state. She is happy and proud of living in an environment that any reasonable person living there cant wait to get an education for the purpose of escape. One can only hope that her pending implosion sends a message to redneck America that traditional small town qualifications simply isnt enough.

Dedicated, there's probably 150-200 million "rednecks" in "small -town America."
Obama's already pissed off a lot of them by saying that "they cling to their guns and religion."
That's elitist no mater how you look at it.

And Palin is just as unqualified as those 150-200 million.  Thats where small town America simply doesnt "get it". Why they put their life experiences on any type of qualifications pedistal is beyond me. Maybe they are pissed off over being railroaded into the poor house. Fine. But being pissed off over their localized frustration situation does not translate into qualifications for the job. Such "mental extension" is pure fantasy

In my 40-plus years, I have lived in three major cities and two isolated rural towns. In both rural settings, not one prominent individual in local government would ever qualify. In every one of my urban settings, I utilized a stricly-urban feature known as mass transit (commuter rail) for my daily commute to and from work. How can anyone from small town America talk intelligently on the economic benefits of mass transit affecting a single city, let alone be qualified to run the entire country?

Out of all the Republican nominees, I was most worried that Mitt Romney would become the person who would "radically govern from the pulpit" the most, even more than Huckabee. I never thought I'd say it, but Mitt Romney is more qualified than Palin. and I truly believe she will bring "God into governance" much more than Romney ever would have. Both are governors, but Romney has far more experience juggling rural issues with 3 million+ population urban issues.

Im voting for someone who can step in and run the country, not for someone who is fun to have a beer with at the bowling alley.

Elitist?  Tough shit.  Education and personal depth, features usually associated with "elitism", are what the job requires.  If Small Town America's nose is out of joint over that, its only because they never should have ventured down that road of fantasy believing rural life credentials are sufficient to begin with.

I have been sitting here reviewing Sarah Palin's greatest hits on U-tube.

I'm sitting here watching the VP debate. I'm comfortable with her as VP.

popeye1250 -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/2/2008 7:22:37 PM)

Dedicated, "education and personal depth" are what have gotten us to where we are now.
Look at all those shyster bankers and brokers on Wall Street who want to scam The People's money, now there's some education and personal depth for ya!
Do you think they'll be giving up the Mercedes and driving Pontiacs?

Wall St. got an education. Some, but not all, used that education more than they should have, for devious purposes.

Main St didnt have an education. When they weren't busy at the local bar throwing darts over who in the bar could be the better President, they were engaged in their fancy political civil war.

Education on Wall St wasn't the problem.  Lack of education on Main St. was.

MzMia -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/2/2008 7:58:41 PM)

Well, tonight confirmed it.
I don't think Sarah Palin is ready to be the VP of the USA.

I listened to the debate, and I felt like I was at a feel good about the
USA rally.
Sarah does a great job singing "Up with America."
I did not hear any clear specific new paths or policies, I did not here

much about the crisis on Wall Street or anything remotely related.

I left feeling she is a cheerleader for McCain, and McCain will be more of Bush.
Since, I am not happy with Bush or his many failed policies, I sure the hell don't
want more of the same in the White House.

VivaciousSub -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/2/2008 10:27:17 PM)

I'm okay with her as VP. Actually, as another poster mentioned in another thread, I'd be happiest with Biden as P and Palin as VP.

That said, most of us have very deeply held political and personal beliefs. We view what the candidates do and say and interpret that through our own filters.

What looks 'okay' to me looks like 'crap' to someone else, what looks like 'crap' to me is someone else's cup of tea.

strongonedm -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/2/2008 10:41:59 PM)

You are so right with the "We view what the candidates do and say and interpret that through our own filters." It appears people have made up their minds a few months ago. Biden is a far better communicator in the debate situation. Given a friendly moderator and 40 years as a politician, that would be expected.

Though, I am not sure we need a female VP just for the sake of having one, I will say she brings a needed non-Washington viewpoint. We have had lots of "qualified" people in politics that haven't done squat. It would be nice to see what someone with with the naive viewpoint of " I just want to make this a better place for my children to grow up" over the Professor and 40 year political hack. I mean really, if Sen. Biden has not made a difference in 40 years, what makes us think that he and The Professor can make a difference now?

I think the mom of 5 with guts is pretty well "qualified" to get my vote.

servantforuse -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/3/2008 5:24:05 AM)

If Sarah Palin isn't qualified to be Vice President because she is only the Governor of Alaska, why was Bill Clinton qualified to be President.??/ Oh  I forgot, he was Governor of Arkansas...

kittinSol -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/3/2008 5:46:54 AM)

It's not her job experience that disqualifies her. It's her stupidity.

DedicatedDom40 -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/3/2008 7:27:01 AM)

Bill Clinton? He would be positioned similar to Romney or Huckabee. Which is still more experienced than Palin.

Besides, who ever said Bill Clinton was great? Bill Clinton won twice because he was running against Bush Sr and Dole. Its the same reason junior won twice, as he was running against Mr Green and Mr Ketchup.

If Palin had been vetted by the nation over the course of time in the same manner as the other Republican candidiates were, she would have been gone before Rudy. As it turns out, she is running for office without being vetted by the nation, but rather was hand picked by the vetted nominee specifically for her pro-life religious views and deliberately kept out of sight. What a stand-up democracy we have when we all go giddy over goggles rather than believe something is wrong with that picture...

Im not a fan of Obama, but you Palin followers are worse than the Obama junkies when it comes to blind allegiance to political unknowns. Hell, at least Professor Obama has been in the race since 2006. How many days did it take for the Reverand Wright issue to surface?  Alot longer than the 60 days that Hayseed Palin will be active on the national stage prior to election day.  I shudder to think what goodies are hidden in the closet of our beloved Jesus Camp graduate.

As a nation, we didnt much care for Dan Quayle. Who knew that putting a dress on him would be such a stellar hit?

MissSCD -> RE: Do you really think Sarah Palin is ready to be VP of the USA? (10/3/2008 7:42:20 AM)

Sure, she is ready to be Vice President.  The problem is McCain is not ready to be President.
Obama should have picked Hillary.
I am undecided now.

The current incumbent would make Goofy look like an improvement.
