As I might have mentioned, I'm picking up an S Type Jaguar in racing green next week - 2.4 litre engine, leather seats, maple dash etc

This has caused some consternation amongst family and friends who counsel strongly against my acquisition of such a vehicle.

This was to be predicted. This is a prestige car, designed to make a statement about those driving it. To my pleasure, my brothers and my dad and some friends (male) are just about pig sick jealous I feel - my sisters, my mom and my female friends think its great and their only comment is "where are we going?"

I'm buying this car because it makes a statement. There is a world of difference in the impression one gives to high flying business types whom we seek as customers, between turning up in a Renault Megane and turning up in a Jaguar S Type.

What do you think?

E

No zoom zoom here Dnomyar - the helpful company that makes speed cameras is based near here and they're everywhere!

Hmmmmm...methinks I must be the first female to vote, since I'm the only one who has chosen option one so far.

May I just say.....

You rock!!!!!

i think that is my favorite saying as of right now...you're hysterical!

i also think that you should do what you want, who cares what anybody thinks about your car?  if it makes you happy and you have the means to do it, then you should go for it....only live once right?

Own it love it and drive it like you stole it Lady E. Boys hate it when the ladies have hotter cars than they do. *Says me that drives a racing yellow 6 speed Corvette. Yeah, you deserve it!

The 4.2 E-Type has walnut trim and purrs like a velociraptor. The 2.4 S is gauche by comparison.

One cannot expect anyone that is pukey pink with creepy blue eyes, and a nose like that, to be nice.

LadyE, if you like the car...........go for it!

Well, I voted for number one.  But really, you are an adult and can decide for yourself what kind of car that you want.  Although the "racing green" did give me pause.  That is not lime green is it?

Thanks everyone; the redundancy of the poll (in that I'm getting the Jag anyway!) is outweighed by far by the way the guys have turned green at its mention and the gals have voiced their unrelenting support!

Racing green by the way (British racing green I think more properly, but no doubt a helpful male might correct me?) is quite a deep dark green. This is not the colour that the resident helpful males have become, which is closer to a pastel I'd guess.

As for Madaxeman's contribution - I reject wholeheartedly any suggestion that my new car might be gauche, or (as another envious male commented in person) the "girls' one" for having a 2.4 litre engine. The size of the engine is irrelevant to me, what with feeling no compunction whatever to make up ground for an overly small male appendage.

The only downside of course is that a Jaguar is another cat; I certainly hope that this particular cat will not come to rule my every day life as effectively as its animal fellows.

Thanks everyone! (and GT - next time you're over here.......!)

E

Thanks Phil -and yes YDD, try to stop me! (though the mods might, what with it being a cat and all.........?)

Now, the next bit - the personalised number plate with my initials on it.

Is this going too far?

Why would I be envious? I don't care what you drive. It was merely a suggestion about a superior car.
Shouldn't you be getting a convertible?
