how about french wine?

Nope...Since the 1860’s Most French wine is really American… at least French grape grafted to American roots anyway.

Les gémissements les plus français tournent autour de ne pas vouloir devenir impliqués.

Yes, but the Smirnoff advert can be taken to say the same, more or less.

Looking for help in the bottom of a bottle would then appear to be a sensible thing to do after all. God must be in there somewhere.

Butch, you would imbibe wine of newer vintage than the 1860's?  Frankly, I am surprised that you would down such swill.

The advice the bottom of the bottle gives is always the same: 75cl.

Whiskey? Pourquoi on voudrait boire de whiskey, si on pourrait boire de whisky?

Ernste Leute sprechen germanische Sprachen.

I'm going to have to start speaking Welsh in a minute and no one will understand that because it will be highly colloquial.

Laughing...and I vaguely remember reading that potatoes aren't even vegetables, but I can't claim any expertise in that area of knowledge.

Edited to add: OK, my memory was wrong (or else I rightly remember reading something that was wrong); "vegetable" is not a scientific term and is used to refer to the edible portion of any plant whatsoever.  So potatoes are indeed vegetables.

You do realise the ownership of potatoes and chips gives meaning to our existence, LaM? Therefore, we're not prepared to let the facts get in the way of our good story.

So's the correctly-spoken French, to those of us who don't speak it. C'est la vie.
