I have never heard an actual scientist say this.  Science is not God.  It doesn't attempt to be God, replace God or deny God.  It isn't about God.

Hi Racquelle...it was just a play on words by me...meaning science believes it is the one and only way to understand the universe.

Creationism is hardly "philosophy" -- it's blind faith in a literal read of Genesis.

That's funny.  You think they actually READ Genesis?

If before the big bang there was no anything and certainly nothing alive. And if all life come only form other life then how is it that we are here talking to each other? Where did the first life form come from?

"Science" isn't just one set of understandings.  "Science" doesn't believe it is the "only way to understand the universe."  There isn't one central scientific body demanding we all believe one set of ideas.  If anything, we are asked to observe, methodically, and reach conclusions, logically.  That's it.  But many of us don't even do that much - because it's hard and we are forgetting how.

Probably more like listen to Genesis----

A misunderstanding

Racquelle I am only talking about religion in general and Genesis in particular...Those opposed to the belief in Genesis use science as their proof.

When you say Genesis, which creation account do you mean? There are two, and they contradict each other.

Musicmystery -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:13:40 PM)

And then there were three

dcnovice -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:14:57 PM)

There's a third one?

Musicmystery -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:16:52 PM)

6 will explain

;-)

NumberSix -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:16:54 PM)

From somewhere up in the Artic north a frost giant lived, and he repeatedly rose his sword over his head and attempted to cleave a rock, and the sparks fell into the cahsm into the  great cauldron Hverglemir, and  a cow was created, and maggots rose from the steam and began suckling on the cow, and they began to take human shapes........

A very small slice of Norse Mythology that could well pre-date Genesis.

Now, if you promulgate creationism, as some likely alternative, why do I gotta pick your god?

Racquelle -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:17:13 PM)

And when Eve had her first son, she said "With God, I have created a man."  I sure do loves me my Process Theology.

I really do like all those views of old Los Angeles.  Reminds me of when I was a kid.

Pick a god, any god! Everybody's a winner!

kdsub -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:21:40 PM)

Now lets see…how about science and the many different beliefs of what was before creation….just a few;

We are a bubble…it pops thus creating a universe.
The previous Universe contracted and rebounded thus creating our universe.
The was nothing before creation
We are in a dimension along with many others…when these flat dimension planes come in contact with each other a universe is born.

I am tired of typing… I could add many more version….it seems science has a harder time making up their minds then God in explaining Genesis.

Racquelle -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:22:57 PM)

We can see who read the Gould article, and who didn't, can't we?

dcnovice -> RE: Creationism in public schools (10/4/2008 8:27:14 PM)

Butch, I have no earthly idea what point you're trying to make.
