ORIGINAL: Alumbrado Very much incorrect. Nice movie out several years ago called Mississippi Masala that showed how other countries can be every bit as stupid about race, ethnicity, skin color, etc. as the US... and some of those places would have to move ahead light years to catch up with America. This was a good movie, but if you watch most Hindi films made in India, they are about people trying to overcome the caste system. It's more than race in many of the countries in the Indian subcontinent and in the Middle East, it's about marrying in your same socio-economic class. Mississippi Masala was about Ugandans, and showed their racial cultural biases. There was another very interesting movie in the bollywood vein just called 'Masala' about Indian immigrants facing Canadian biases. Not to be argumentative, but I own the movie and this is right from the movie's website: Plot summary for Mississippi Masala (1991) An Indian family is expelled from Uganda when Idi Amin takes power. They move to Mississippi and time passes. The Indian daughter falls in love with a black man, and the respective families have to come to terms with it. Starring Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury.
