Hi SrchngCpl,
Would you mind if I c-mailed you about the South Beach diet? My doctor wants me to follow it, to see if the extreme fatigue that I've been experiencing lately is nutritionally-related. I do have the book, but I've found that it isn't quite as structured as the Atkins plan.

I'd appreciate any advice you can give!

Thanks!

This is a post I have thought a while about where its proper home is and this is the best I've got... so if this is the wrong board I apologize and please let me know what to do to put it right...

This is definitely for submissives though.

Basically, I'm interested in getting to know any other submissives that are using weight watchers or any similar plan to lose weight, while being supported in these efforts by their dominant half. There are some great weight loss communities of people and some great bdsm communities of people and I really want a bdsm community of weight loss subs -- I think it greatly affects the process when you are being encouraged by a dominant.

fire, as to the first one, hunt him down and put a hex on him.

----

As for me, I was always thin and athletic, until I dated someone three years ago, who wanted me to put on weight (liked bbws and could only sexually function with bbws yet picked me, a thin girl, to date). Being the ever pleasing s-type that I am, I put on 80 lbs in 3 months. I've been through several boyfriends since then and could not drive myself to lose weight. However, Master wants me to lose weight (in a healthy way -- we've discussed the end goal and all) and I am finding this was the exact thing I needed-- support and the expectation from him of success.

----

Anyone else out there going through this journey with a dominant guide?

i was on the south beach diet but I found I could only lose weight on what I called phase 1 1/2 phase 2 had too much carbs on it for me so it was better for maintenance for me. But I did eat berries and oatmeal and a peice of whole grain bread with peanutbutter and still lost weight. But the South Beach diet book. It is very inspirational.

bamabbwsub -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 6:19:29 PM)

Thanks, luscious. I tried the Atkins diet, and lost about 13 pounds, but then I had nasal surgery and gained it back, plus another 10!! Aaaarrrgghhhh!

As I said, the SBD doesn't seem as structured as the Atkins plan, and I'm a structure freak. From what I recall from the book, there is no carb counting on SBD as there was in Atkins, so I'm not sure how that's going to work for me. <sigh> I don't know if I can implement a "Phase 1 1/2" like you did. Structure, structure, structure.

Well phase 1 is very much like atkins for the first 2 weeks. So it is structured just phase 2 which added back more carb slowed the weight loss. But the thing I like about incorparating a bit more carbs is that Its better for my digestive system. Atkins is so VERY binding.

bamabbwsub -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 7:07:31 PM)

Thanks for the reply, luscious. The restrictions of Atkins is primarily why my doctor recommended SBD instead of Atkins. I'll re-read the SBD book with more of an open mind this time (I was so mad that I gained the weight back after Atkins, plus 10, that I swore I'd never go on a diet again -- and WW, although a great plan, just doesn't work for me for some reason). Thanks for the comments! You look GREAT in your picture, so whatever you do is obviously working for you! [:)]

That was after southbeach.... but I am back on the diet with 30 pounds to re-lose! I just started back on monday. SO other of my pics are more current. That was 2006. I will get back there though. I know I can do it and so can YOU!

bamabbwsub -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 7:25:38 PM)

I just perved your profile, luscious, and all I can say is that +30 or -30, you're a beautiful woman. And I loved the words that you wrote, explaining who you are and what you were looking for. :)

And yes, we CAN both do this! Woo hoo! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll be starting my diet on Tuesday, as I'm going out of town this week and don't want to start the diet until I'm in a -- yup, you guessed it -- structured environment. Ha!

*FR*

Basically until you mentally make the commitment to lose weight, nothing will work.  Before getting pregnant, I lost 28 pounds in 3 months on WW and I'm still eating healthy while pregnant (24 weeks and gained 10 pounds...).  I have many other family members who have been successful with WW, too, including 2 relatives whose docs told them the only way they would lose a significant amount of weight was with gastric bypass and maybe not even then.  I have found that the ones who haven't been that successful simply hadn't made up their minds and gotten their willpower together.  The program works *if* you work the program.

I did the program online and Sir bought me a lot of WW cookbooks. I was lucky to have his support and that he ate the foods from the WW recipes as did our ums.  I can't do the frozen foods and their little snack stuff but they have a LOT of really great, fast recipes that are big on the wow factor. I serve them to family and friends and most have no idea they are eating healthy, low-fat recipes.

I did the program entirely online because to be honest I'm a hermit and the online plan is much, much cheaper.  Many of my family members needed the support and cheerleading offered at the meetings to keep going, so that's great for them.  The best part of WW for me is the flex plan where you count points.  There are no forbidden foods; if you have a craving you can have a treat...you just have to write down points for it.  I never once felt deprived or hungry on the plan.  I enthusiastically recommend it to people who are serious about losing weight.

you are so sweet! good luck to you. We can root and support each other!

bamabbwsub -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 7:42:27 PM)

jaguar, I think WW is a great plan, but it just doesn't work for me. I think the reason is that, even though I can stay within my allotted points, most of what I eat are carbs.

Breakfast: cereal (carbs)
Lunch: sandwich (carbs), baked chips (carbs), WW cake (carbs)
Dinner: some kind of meat, salad, potatoes or corn (carbs), slice of bread (carbs)
Points: Well within the range given for my weight (and yes, I used ALL of my points like you're supposed to)

I was going to the gym 3x per week for 1 hour a day, hired a personal trainer, AND staying within my allotted points. Weight loss? ZERO. It frustrated my trainer almost as much as it did me. We figured it must have been the carbs, so I started the Atkins diet. But after I had to go off of it because of nasal surgery (hard to eat meat when your nose and mouth are hurting), and I gained the weight back...plus some. Aaaaaargh!

tsatske -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 7:48:56 PM)

I have family members who have all lost significant weight this past year, and all on different programs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE WW, and some of my family members have lost weight on plans I think are LUDICRIOUX -
but that is not the real issue. Everyone has to find the plan that works best for them. There is no one right way.

Fat people are so used to accepting blame - 'it's all my fault i'm fat - i deserve to be fat - blah, blah, blah.' that kind of thinking does NOT get you thin.

How many people do you know on some diet plan that is not working at all, who tell you, 'well, it would work, i'm not really following it...' if you are not following it, it is because that plan is not a good match for you! Find one that is! Quit with the 'all my fault' BS whining and keep trying till you find what works for YOU.

Kalista07 -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 8:17:06 PM)

i've read this thread tonight with some interest. As i think i've said one zillion 6 million 5hundred and 62 times on here, i think that i had a very very distorted sense of my body image long before i was ever fat. Then, after the lovely doctors completly removed my thyroid and no one put me on medication to replace it and i gained 163 pounds...i developed a great eating ( or non eating disorder). Recently, after a discussion with the doctor here, she referred me to a dietician. i went and met with her. i was candidly open with her and told her my only other experience with a dietician and that first woman could not comprehend that this issue for me (despite my weight) was not about portion control. She acknowledged this and we comprimised on a 1500 calorie a day diet versus a 2000 calorie a day diet because she knew my anxiety was waaay to much to consider this.
i enjoyed the last dietician i met with. She told me 17 or 19 grams of carbs equals 1 carb. i'm permitted four or five carbs for breakfast, lunch, and supper. And two for snacks. We also talked about where those carbs were coming from. That's what i'm currently doing. The interesting thing is recently He asked me how i was doing with that and i told Him that it occurred to me that i do better when i have to write it down. Somehow writting it down reminds me that i need to eat more than one thing for breakfast.
Hope this helps someone,
Kali

I really wish every one would read where she's said she's commited to making the long haul, and has the help of her dom to keep on track.

She didn't say she wasn't commited or she was doing it for him only, she  basically asked if there were other subs out there who were on the weight loss journy who'd like company.

I think why WW works for me and my family is that we are already rather protein-centric carnivores.  I drool in the meat department! LOL! About all I changed carb-wise was changing all white starches to whole grains except for 1 or 2 recipes that required white rice and just didn't work with brown rice.  I've had enough surgeries to know how much they mess with your appetite, your weight, and how frustrating it can be when you're just not healthy enough to worry with your weight...

I know WW doesn't work for every single human being on the planet, but I also know a lot of "impossible" cases they've helped...

smilingjaguar -> RE: weight issues (10/7/2008 9:09:26 PM)

I really wish you'd read people's posts before you decide to single people out, but at least one of us realizes that bitching on a forum instead of joining the conversation doesn't change other people's behavior.

I was speaking about weight loss in general and not necessarily one specific human being hence the FR.  Starting a diet does not equal making the mental and physical commitment to no longer tolerating an unhealthy lifestyle and never will.  I've started a lot of diets with all the right words coming out of my mouth but it doesn't equate to an actual commitment.

I wish you luck on your goal OP.

I've always had my Sir's support on my weight loss goals.  What really brought it home for me was figuring out that I was eating for emotional reasons vs. being hungry.  I've lost 14 pounds and have more to go, but for the first time I feel like I have control over what I eat!  Paying attention to my calorie intake (1200 a day) and getting at least one hour of exercise five days a week has done wonders.

I've been following the South Beach eating plan for almost 5 years now, feel free to email me.  I follow it as much for my health as for weight loss because the way it works is by keeping your blood sugar levels even thoughout the day which helps prevent diabetes and heart disease.  BTW South Beach is not low carb, you eat plenty of "good carbs".
