Nothing really CM related.
More along the lines of sick animals come in, we diagnose through tests and then prescribe correct medications, and the owner who is dressed in designer clothes spouts, "ARE THESE MEDS NECESSARY!?"
Just kidding about the lyme disease! Your dog isn't worsening, he just likes to lay around and look ill for fun. In fact, the hour the doctor (who went through hell and expenses to be able to even help your dog) and the entire hospital staff spent on you which eats away at resources and whose family they're trying to support on the little income we bring in on your visit alone is entirely free! No worries. This is just a medical facility and you can expect to come in and walk out with a free everything. I mean, who needs to pay hospital bills, staff a functional set of intelligent people, and stock our shelves with medication? Silly us. Enjoy your evening!

HUFF. PUFF.

my eyes rolled at  (sounds like a TPAM thread, right?)...

the guy who wanted me to do him a $1500 JOB of tatt work, when I do't own a gun (the guns are expensive, ask anyone into getting skin-ink here), and when I tell him,

"fine, but you'll have to buy me the gun and the ink, then I'll do it for free,"

the shitkicker-meathead DUMB-ASS says,

"Awwwww, no mate, that's too complicated, but I'll see ya right mate, just do me the tatt and afterwards I'll score ya a slab of tinnies."

in other words, MEATHEAD wanted over $1500 of LABOUR, by HAND (none of this pansy-ass sofware-drawing-for-you shit), that would take at least 8 hours of my life, and expected me to to be happy when he MAY OR MAY not pay LES THAN $50 for a card-board box of 30 cheap beers.

uh, YEAH, right, asswipe.

BKSir -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (10/22/2009 1:26:33 AM)

Well, I came down with a nasty chest cold Monday... or Sunday night, it's all a bit blurry to me right now still.  Thankfully aside from a little bit of a tickle in my upper lungs and my chest and back hurting from the coughing, I'm feeling right as rain again.  Alas, at some point during the fever induced delirium whilst tossing and turning in bed, I somehow managed to get my pinky toe wrapped up in the sheet and sprained it. >.<  That HURTS!  Unfortunately, much like a cold, a sprained toe is one of those things that no one can do anything about except say "Well, sucks to be you, get better soon."

I guess, on the up side.  I've quit smoking because of the cold.  At least mostly.  I've had about 1 1/2 cigarettes since the cold started and don't want more.  Even though I'm feeling better, I really don't care about having a cig.  I'm sure now that I'm feeling better I'll start wanting one again a little more, but, that is something I'm ready to fight through.  As long as I have my hot tea here, I'll be peachy.  Hmm... peachy...  I need to go get some dried peaches or peach blossoms for my blends.  Why can't the tea shop be open at 230a.m.?

I swear, I need to open a store that carries just the oddest shit that's open between 9pm and 9am.  When all the other stores are closed.  Things like stuff for blending teas, or a selection of hard to find munchables that the craving only seems to hit in the middle of the night, and batteries, we all need to get batteries at 2a.m. at some point in our life, don't we?  Other shit like rubics cubes and various little plumbing parts and tennis balls.  I bet I'd make bank!

ack, BK!  if the mucous you cough up gets greenish, do not hesitate to get anti-biotics lest you get pneumonia as I did and scar yer lungs!  not good!

btw, mixing a vodka orange and 2 flexoril (HARD ASS pms meds) will make you sleep through the nic-fit AND the coughs...   [;)]

LOL, nah, it's already gone, it was a little greenbrownish, the little start of a light bronchitis, but, it's fine now.  I heal very fast.

And I will NEVER mix vodka or any drink with flexoril.  Awesome muscle relaxant, and about the only med that will knock me out.  The heavy stuff, barely phases me, but one little 15mg flexoril and I'm out for 12 hours and a zombie the next of the day.  But yeah, it definitely helps me sleep.

There was one night, well... the flexoril and the zantac 150s I have look very similar, same size, same shape, same bottle size, both on my nightstand (I've remedied that since this occurrence).  Well, I wake up with heartburn, pop a zantac, go back to sleep for about 20 minutes, wake up, worse than before, pop another, rinse, repeat...  to the tune of 6 of them.  I was wondering why the green flaming jeziz they weren't working, they usually work like a charm.  Come to find out the next day I'd taken 6 of the flexoril.  I've put them in a different bottle and in the top dresser drawer now, so there's no chance of that happenning again.  [:'(]

There was an information session on H1N1 at my hospital yesterday. On the one hand we are being told to stay home if we get sick (common sense) but Health and Safety has told us they aren't relaxing the rule that the first 5 days off are unpaid unless we have sick days (9 per year) left. Most of us just can't afford to stay home for free.

Look I understand the whole don't infect others policy....I get that I really do. It just seems to me that if they want us to be ABLE to stay home they should offer the incentive of paid days off.

BKSir -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (10/22/2009 4:05:53 AM)

I've always hated that.  Doctor:  "I want you to spend the next week (or two) at home in bed."  Me:  "Well, that's awesome!  I want you to smooth it out with my boss and pay my bills for that two weeks.  We're not all doctors making $300k+/year, asshole."

No kidding BK. They just don't get it that some of us don't have the second income and cannot afford to stay home. You would think that the cost of paying a few to stay home would be better than the cost of many more staying home because someone had to come to work sick but they just can't/won't see it that way.

it won't happen. I think in a lot of places they want you there anyway (when were you at work, hacking and sneezing, and had a supervisor approach you and say "Zeph...you are sick. Go home."? Yeah right....you had to approach them to leave, then they have the balls to look surprised.). It is a CYA for them. Should you infect a patient and they complain to the Suits, they can pull out the memo, sadly shake their heads, and place the blame squarely on you.

BKSir -> RE: What has made your eyes roll today? (10/22/2009 5:22:38 AM)

Ok, admittedly, I have had a couple bosses that did that, and I've done that to a couple people under me also, but, for me it's a necessity.  Working in kitchens, if someone even sniffles funny they suddenly become scrutinized really close.  But, more than once someone has come through the door, I've seen them and said, "Hi, get your ass out of here, you look like something the cat wouldn't drag in."  I'd rather cover their shift, than have my whole crew and god knows how many customers sick because of that one guy/gal.  Even had one boss actually PAY for me to go to the doctor (I was not in a good fiscal situation at that moment in my life, moving, etc etc, long story, but he knew).  He would rather lose a little, lose me for three or four days, and take it out of my checks over a few months than to have me sick for a month, getting everyone else sick, etc because I couldn't afford to go to the doctor or take time off.  Thankfully it was just one of those walk in clinics and I didn't need a specialist or anything for the Norwiegan Creeping Crap of the Week that was going around, but, those things can escalate real fast.

They're rare, damn near mythical, but they do exist.  And god bless those bosses who have the common sense to bite a little bit right now to save and even make money in the long run, and not just talk the talk.
