The entire saga belongs in the finest trailer park in Alaska, not in the White House.  We are so blessed that an unsophisiticated outsider is running this time.

Hey, anyone else here a "Beverly Hillbillies" fan?

You're right, bluepanda. The best sitcom writers couldn't have come up with better material than what's unravelling everyday on the media [8D] .

Palin needs to start dating Lindsay Lohan

Impossible: you need a sex drive to lay Lind. A big Alaskan fridge just won't cut the cheese.

Somehow, everyone is getting their knickers in a knot over Sarah Palin firing Mr. Monegan because of the way she was alleged to use her power as Governor solely for personal reasons. In fact, while it might have been a contributing factor to his firing, the Governor was well within her constitutional and statutory rights to fire the gentleman. Sorry guys, but there is no case, no impeachment.  Could be the "October Bombshell" was a dud!

Well cory allegedly if I was Cindy McCain right now I would be pulling out my stash of Vicodin and a pitcher of Bahama Mamas right about now. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

The McCain's campaign response just came out. They are saying that Palin is vindicated by the result (huh?!) of this enquiry, even though it was led by pro-Obama supporters. What the fuck? I thought the committee was largely Republican, with a Republican prosecutor leading it? Are they even more off their heads than previously thought? I think we should be told.

~ Anxious of East Grinstead

Yep, contrary to the democrat spin, while the democrat inspired report says the Governor "violated the public trust in her effort to "benefit a personal interest" (read:  If someone abused a member of your family would you do anything different?) the second finding in the report concluded that the Governor was within her statutory rights to fire the gentleman.  Seems like a lot of "sound and fury", as usual, over nothing....
Think about it, Barney Frank, for example, gets his boyfriend a job at FannieMae and that little event is spiked by the press.  Here, ok, maybe Sarah got a little pissed at the way her former brother-in-law treated her sister, and now they want to hang her??  What is wrong with this picture??

Stephen Branchflower report to the legislative council

This report is in two parts and, most unfortunate, but the public only has access to part one. It's long, it's boring but I thought I'd put it up here for those who wish to read it.

What struck me most about this was the amount of hearsay allowed.. but then, it's not, exactly, a criminal proceeding with all the bells and whistles and I don't know anything about what constitutes protocol in events such as these so it's just my uninformed opinion that it seems a whole lot of testimoney is allowed in that would have been objectionable in a court of law. Some of the findings which Branchflower makes, I thought, were a bit dubious and would directly violate privacy, but that's just me. I'm sort of a stickler for stuff like that.

There is already spin on this, but I have to say that trying to go after Obamas character regarding associations is going to be quit difficult for the McCain campaign given the investigations and findings of both principal members of the pub ticket.

Maybe it's just me, but on one side you have attacks on associations and on the other you've got a couple of people who did not have associations which may be questionable but whose own hands were caught in the cookie jar .. so to speak.

When I give weight to both these things .. 40 years ago Ayers engaged in terrorist activities though Obama met him after he had turned himself in and been a respected professor for several years and certainly a case can be made for rehab (McCain himself said Keating was one of the single worst mistakes of his life and certainly McCain/Feingold speaks to his own rehab)  vs  last year a sitting Gov abused the power of the governor's office. In my mind the actions of McCain (Keating) and Palin (abuse of power) carries more weight than the association Obama may or may not have with Ayers, Acorn, Wright etc. What wrong doing has Obama been accused and found guilty of? Even McCain said we needn't worry with Obama as president. That's a pretty strong endorsement. Perhaps the negative campaigning is at an end .. doubtful, but I remain ever optimistic .. even when I see, clearly, that's a naive perspective. [8D]

Well...I guess we all interpret the written word based on our own prejudices and/or agenda's.  As I said above,
I can't equate Sarah Palin (who did NOT have her hand in the cooked jar but probably was energized to do what she did more or less because of how here sister was treated), with numerous politicians who not only put their hands in the taxpayers cookie jar..but than steal the damn jar!

As far as Obama's "associations'...they are important as a measure of the kind of man that would sit in the oval office since he doesn't have any track record of achievement to suggest he is qualified for the job.  Being an attractive, articulate and charismatic guy describes countless movie stars, sports hero's and others...but not the only thing on a resume when applying for the job as President.

ACORN, Obama representing them in the early 1990's in litigation to force banks to give sub-prime loans in Chicago, ACORN being a community activist group known for its intimidation methodolgy and involved in cases of voter fraud...a group that received over $800,000 from the Obama campaign, IS a concern for me.  http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/10/mccain_campaign_calls_for_inve.html

Bill Ayers:  We all know what he and his wife were about in the 1960's regarding bombings and intimidation of judges, etc.  Ayers saw the anti-war movement as a stepping stone to achieving the fall of capitalism.  He and Obama were not just members of the Board of the Chicago Annenberg Challange, Ayers APPOINTED Obama as Chairman of the group...something I don't believe a casual neighbor relationship would suggest.  Mr. Ayers was nice enough to open up his home to an Obama fund raiser..and we will probably here more about this relationship during next weeks debate, and over the next few weeks leading up to the election.

Jerimiah Wright:  Bitter, racist and anti-USA pastor for the Obama family for twenty years.  Obama claims he was not in the pew to hear the poison coming from this man..Sure!

Again, I would love to see the Obama family Christmas card list...because up to this point I don't like the people that have been set forth in front of the public for view.

Tony Rezko:  Convicted felon and friend of Obama...Sweetheart deal for property for the Obama family.

Don't you wonder sometimes why these groups/people were driven to be friends of Obama?  And now there are stories about Obama and the socialist "New Party" in Chicago.  ON and on it goes, and each new revelation of friendships makes me even more curious about this man on the public stage for half his Senate term and no one really knows him.

corysub, nobody's disputing the finding that she was within her rights when firing Monegan. But you're overlooking the first finding, which is that she broke the law for

Wooten had broken police policy.  There was an investigation, and a punishment.  Palin clearly decided that the punishment wasn't enough, and she wanted him fired.  She demanded both directly and through others that the matter be reopened in viiolation of police policy, and that the outcome be firing.  Even when Monegan told his callers that the conversations were illegal, they persisted.

When Wooten shot a moose illegally using the permit of Palin's sister Molly, Palin demanded that he be held accountable.  Just him.  Not his wife, whose permit he used, nor Palin's father, who butchered and dressed the moose.  And Palin was not happy that Monegan told her that he couldn't selectively enforce the law.

Note that none those giving testimony were Palin supporters, who defied their subpoenas.  Incredible arrogance on Palin's part, to refuse to allow her supporters to testify.  Not to mention that she released her own "findings" in another report, which found her completely innocent of all charges.  Like when she was asked a question she didn't feel like answering in her "debate", and she simply rattled off a prepared sound bite on a subject of her own choosing instead.

She's basically a small town girl used to running everything her way through favoritism and clearly is out of her depth.

This zeal to defend, is beginning to remind me of some of the more bizzare slave and master/mistress threads. You know, where one comes on whining about something, then they get clobbered for being an idiot, then the other comes charging in to defend the honour of the idiot.

Cory, are you Mistress Sarah's toyboy?!?!?

I just had to ask as the similarity to what I described above is striking.[;)]

I just cannot WAIT to read how our fellow CM members, the Palin fans try to spin this into a positive.[:D]

Its very clear to me that this is merely part of an intricate plan whereby she's exposing more of the corruption in her own party in Alaska.

Tell me - was she not here closely involved in uncovering yet more suspicious practices, yes or no?
