I have met several dominant women that love to spank. One thing they all seem to have in common is that they tell me to bring a hairbrush. I'm just sort of curious -- why do so many dommes want their sub man to bring the spanking instrument? I find it interesting that this is such a common theme.

There is something else I'm seeking answers to. Let's say my mistress tells me to bring a brush so that she can spank me. I never know whether to keep it in my pocket until she asks me to hand it to her, or to lay it on a table or somewhere when I arrive. It seems like a silly thing to worry about, but I have.

In general, if you play with several different people it is recommended that the sub brings his or her own toys so as not to get someone else's diseases transmitted. So if the sub she spanked yesterday has warts, and you don't, you don't risk getting them by providing your own brush.

Now spanking has less chance, but still not a zero risk, of transmission. However other things hold viruses alive easier.

It's a safety thing. Plus a lot of us don't like to be viewed as interchangeable blow up dolls. We feel unhappy if they take the stuff they used intimately on their last sub and use it on us. I for one would feel in such a situation that he was picturing his last one and not seeing me.

Good point about diseases -- I didn't consider that one.

It also makes the experience more personal. You need to be thinking about it in advance, to remember to bring the brush with you, and there is an added anticipation. As for what to do with the brush when you arrive you should speak to the Mistress about that in advance. She will guide you.

After my last punishment my Master left his crop with me and told me to take good care of it. Each time I look at it I am reminded that I never want to be punished with it again. It is where I glance at it several times a day, and just the physical presence brings my mind back to it. The hairbrush can be the same to you, only in a positive way. You can quickly form an emotional connection between an object and its intended use. You will find that many things in the lifestyle have a secondary emotional meaning if you take the time to look past the surface.

As for when to give it to her..... she has asked you to bring something present it to her as soon as you arrive, then she can choose when to use it.

I have heard of that too. What I heard was that it had to be approved. Was that an actual practice?

There's the practicality and possibly the safety of bringing your own toys with you. That's purely a logistics issue.

Back in the days when it was thought a good idea for teachers and headmasters to spank school children, those who were to be punished often were sent to fetch the cane or whatever. It's a safe bet that this was not done because teachers were too busy to walk down the hall and bring it back themselves. Sending my sub to get the crop/cane/tawse I plan to use on his backside seems to intensify his sense of humiliation and dread. Very hot, and I can't imagine what people were thinking in letting teachers do this to children.

I always liked using my own hair brush. I like to actually use it to brush my hair while my boy watches or let him brush my hair, then turn him over and use it on him. But then, I rarely have more than one sub at a time to 'share' toys.

I always take my own toys......I have a bit of a varied selection....not alot but good quality toys. That way, I know that I am the only one that they have been used on, and also, that way, I know that I'll get my favorites used on me. That's not to say that I haven't had other things used on me that belonged to the Dom, but it's just easier to being my toys too.

And the whole :looking at them and remembering" thing is great too!

To answer the OP: Floggers and the like are expensive. We submissives should help with a bit of the cost. Then ther is the mind fuck aspect of it all. I use one side of the brush to treat her lovely mane; and, she uses the other side to treat my rock hard rump.

That's the way I see it.

Personally besides the other good points... I don't want to pull pubic hair outta my brush... or worse yet... finding one on my flaming glory at the book store... besides... have you ever tried to find a good brush... I am not breaking a hard find on someone's ass.

I've only had one sub who I would have him bring a brush. My pet had an absolutely lovely mane. In fact, that was why I called him that. I just adored 'petting' him.

Anyway, he was required to bring the brush every time. It didn't really have anything to do with avoiding toy sharing or other issues. The point was more about the duality. The hairbrush could be used for pleasure or pain. One of pet's favorite rewards was having his hair brushed. He loved sitting at My feet, having his locks brushed while I ran My fingers through his long hair. I'm kind of big on long hair, so it was good for Me, too. If he wasn't being rewarded, the same brush could be used elsewhere. Both connected his thoughts of Me when he used it when I wasn't around.

As for your other thought, how to present it to her, I would say that depends on the Domme. I would suggest saying something to the effect that you had been asked to bring her something (the brush) and would she like it now. At that point, again depending on the Domme, you have the opportunity to kneel, bow your head, and offer it to her with both hands, palms upward. Some of us like that kind of thing.
