I use very few actual implements for punishment at home, so pretty much all of my impact and torture toys are used with whomever I play with. For non porous items, I use Witch Hazel spray to clean after use, and the wooden items are then conditioned with butcher-block polish, which is food grade and non-toxic. I will sometimes use the spray on the few porous items, but sparingly to avoid drying out. I also keep mush of my gear in the car which gets incredibly hot, so I think of it as "baking off the cooties". Often, if my victim is not too sub-spaced out after a session, they will be responsible for cleaning and putting away. Most of the concern with shared toys is a combo of "squick factor" and "is she thinking about the last person she spanked?" If items are to make contact only with the outside of the body, and blood is not drawn, the risk of shared disease is so minimal as to be almost impossible. With blood there is a slightly higher risk, but not by much. The common pathogens that cause disease in humans typically have to be wet, fresh, and unoxidized to survive, and die very quickly outside of the host. I worry more about the many people who do not wash their hands after using the restroom.
