Here in the South, at least in many parts of Georgia, the Deer population has gotten way over populated. You can drive down many country roads and see herds of deer just off the road or crossing it. Where I used to hunt outside Macon, GA the screens we have set up are at the top of a small hill, in some brush and it looks down on a clearing. Now that was like shooting fish in a barrel and there were no "baiting" being done.

If you are anywhere close to South Georgia you should try some boar hunting in the swamps. Now that can get interesting.

I find hunting here in the South vastly different than in the Rockies...I never once saw feeders or tree stands or heard of dog hunting in Idaho. People probably would have torn it out and flung it down the mountain. I fail to see the point of sitting on my can waiting for them to come eat my corn. Like shooting fish in a barrel in my opinion. I'll walk 5 miles of ridge and brush any day.

I hunt with a 45/70. I can shoot either regular rounds in it or black power rounds. Saves from owning different guns. As far as the ones who don't think we should shoot any deer. In Michigan alone there are about 50,000 deer car accidents each year alone. Come down my road now and tyou will see several laying around. For some reason the DNR here will not remove road kill.

Time for an eye exam...  I read that as "I mounted my wall already."

I know what you mean.  Earlier today when I first saw the thread entitled "pubic shaving," I could've sworn it said "public shaving."  I thought "Oh geesh, now we have to debate whether or not it's ok to SHAVE in public?"  Scrolled by several times before I finally read it correctly..............luci

OMG I am going back there to look at that right now. I have thought it said "public" all night.

It's a trifecta.  I thought that's what it said, too.

I like to hunt from horseback but there are always too many city folks ready to shoot my "deer" out from under me.

Must have the same eye doctor as the fellow here in PA who a few years back shot a bull elk, claiming he thought it was a whitetail buck.

Same here in Minnesota. I remember one March when I counted over a hundred thawing deer carcasses in just a few mile stretch of highway. It was 30 or 40 to the mile. Bizarre sight.

I don't hunt anymore, but it's not because I'm against hunting. I just don't like killing animals myself unless i have to. Someone else wants to, that's fine, I just don't have the heart to pull the trigger on them as long as I can go to a store and buy dead animals there. But honestly, people who do hunt are doing a service. Growing up in Wisconsin, I've seen winters where starving deer yarded up by the hundreds in farm fields, and it was a gruesome sight. Having killed off most of the wolves who used to keep the deer population more closely alligned with the carrying capacity of their habitat, thinning them out ourselves is the least we can do for the poor bastards.

I think that there needs to be a training course that teaches them that if your "deer" has a saddle and a rider, IT'S NOT A FUCKING DEER!  Honestly, some of the people who come up here are THAT stupid.
