Ok Two points.

First. I HATE it when I get to these threads late......:) and no I didn't read it all so this may have been said.

Second........ Women here, like any Internet site probably get 100's of emails a week. who the hell has the time to answer all of them. To say it is rude to not answer an email from a stranger.... is just plain stooopid!

Jeffwey

Don't use it as a crutch..

Rude is rude no matter the excuse. If your okay with that, it doesn't bother me. I could see someone who has a Master and isn't allowed.

So... it's perfectly OK if my Master (if I had one) decides that I'm not to reply to unsolicited email from people I don't know, but if I decide on my own not to reply to the same email, it's rude? Nice double standard.

Shouldn't all Masters, being polite, insist that their subs/slaves reply to every "polite" email they receive?? Oh wait, they would probably rather that their sub spend that hour in a more productive way.....

Jeffff -> RE: WHY NO POLITE RESPONSES??? (10/12/2008 4:09:55 PM)

Ic.... sometimes you say the silliest things. A crutch? how is it a crutch. On the personals side people are there to meet some one. They want to meet some one the might like. Often a bad message . or even  a bad picture...( yes I know it is shallow), is enough for them to know.

No response equals no interest. To equate it with bad manners, is bad manners

What about submissives who are not looking for a partner and state disclaimer in their profile?  Do they get a pass?

But if I'm not taken, I need to reply to anyone wanting my "attention", even those I have no interest in? Fascinating.

You don't have to reply to unsolicited snail mail. You don't have to reply to an unsolicited phone call. You don't have to reply to unsolicited email. A CM account arguably is an invitation to message, but only to a subset of the community. The recipient can decide what subset that is. You can reply to everybody. I reply to everybody except form letter bulk mailers. A Domme may reply to the 2% of her mail that shows evidence of the writer demonstrating the courtesy to read her profile and respond appropriately.

Other than in person, there is no blanket rule of etiquette requiring a personal response to any message from a stranger. Specifically, on the Internet, a high speed, shortcut filled medium (u cn reed txtspk 4 a xmple), there is absolutely no expectation of a response, even from someone you are corresponding with. Responding to every online message would be a prison sentence. That is why there are Spam blockers on your email, and why there are filters on CMs messaging system. as a sender, you can not know whether a non-response is due to a recipient ignoring a message, or the message being blocked. Either way, you have your answer: not interested.

If you are the only person demanding responses as a show of common courtesy, it is not because you are a pioneer in online etiquette, it simply means you have forgotten the "when in Rome " adage.

Filter then..No excuses work for me other than they were nasty to you right off the bat or you were told not to by your Master.

I agree to the majority of what you said but I still see it as rude if you don't reply unless for any of the reasons I have stated.. I know how it all works though..No one is obligated to do anything in life but die. lol.
