Status: offline 		So much for this conversation having no pertinence.BTW...the quote I plucked was actually just the tip of the iceberg,there are about a dozen equally repugnant viewpoints contained within the article...feel free to look it up! Some are down right bone chilling,one would think it was 1963.And as an aside ,people are free to think what they like,and I understand some of those view points I will find repugnant....I am free to think of these people as idiots,as it relates to these view points and though I apologised to Kirata for possibly offending him...I make no apology for believing these people to be idiots...They have their right to their views,I have my right to mine.

If he doesnt get along with some groups, I guess that is his perogative.   IMO- Obamas race is an asset, not a liabilty.

I understand some cultures can be fearful of others'   but I do think that in this case, it is misplaced.

Obama is of mixed race.  everytime race has been an issue in the primaries and the general he has brought it up.  i do not see where he has risen above racism.

I don't know..although it was meant as absurd example.....it still was on national tv...all people accepting it.
Personally I found always weird that never peopel from a different race came to visit..in a tv programm from a country that knows so many interesting cultures.
Therefor..if it is accepted on national tv....it s propably accepted by the inhabitants of that nation...(with out seeing it as racist?)

small example...but stil part of the bigger total

oh well...touchy subject again.
guess no one has a clue how to solve such a issue..no matter who becomes president...at least not in the few years they have.

I think when everybody else stops bringing it up.. so will he  . But he has to address those that are making it an issue.

i agree with you that some of the statements are down right bone chilling.  i have experienced that awful hatred firsthand.  until you have walked in a black man's or black woman's shoes you can only sympathize. 

it is unfortunate that any politician can actually sympathize with hard working americans no matter the race.

This is out and out bullshit...when asked directly,during a 60 Minutes interview if race would play a factor in the race....Obama responded,quite intelligentlly that it would be a wash...some would not vote for him because of his color....some would vote for him because of his color.
When asked about the "Bradley effect" on Larry King Michelle Obama stated that they were not concerned about it...she indicated they were aware of it ,they discounted it and that were it to be in effect Obama would not be in his current position...to wit the Democratic Candidate for President....Sorry BestBaby this is just not true!!!!!

sorry but Obama mentioned at one of his first rallies early in the general that he did not look like the portraits of the men on the money and that the voters are going to be told he is different.  too bad 60minutes & Larry King could not transcend above race.  i do not believe those questions should have been asked.

Yep.. seems to be our favorite past-time.  I wish we could all get over our own races.  Stop hyphenating our nationalities.. stop self-segregating.  To me.. color means nothing.. but culture means everything.  There are some cultures that treat people like shit because of either religion or tradition ... and yes, those are what I consider when I am deciding whether or not I wish to be involved with a person.

Mentioning the obvious and warning that it wil be used as a distraction is not akin to "everytime race has been an issue in the primaries and the general he has brought it up" ...which by the way is the statement I disagreed with....hell even in stating his belief it is a non-issue,one could say he is discussing it....should he not answer these questions , or not respon to the Obama as boogyman rhetoric of the right...
