Do not tell me what I do and do not understand. Obviously you see things in your own little way which does not match with anyone elses view. As I have worked with and remain friends with the main producer of the programme I can assure you I fully understand the programme.

Perhaps you should now stop posting about things you know nothing about.

Oh, now we have the ' I've worked with so and so know much more than you ' line. Bullshit.

Did you watch the entire show and did you miss the final scene where they argued over who won and Clarkson says it is obvious and then the Beetle tootles past ? Hmm ? Well ? He said the Beetle won, how do you explain that ?

Certainly not BULLSHIT. I have spent the last 20 years working for one of the biggest UK broadcasters / production companies. Sorry if you don't like that but I only deal in fact.

Perhaps you should try talking about things you know about in future instead of talking out of your arse.

Oh, now we have the vast experience being invented. How many medals did they give you ? Seriously, the resort to greater insider knowledge is an old canard and doesn't cut it in debate.

Answer the question I gave you. Did you see the whole episode and how do you explain the final scene where Clarkson announces the winner as the VW Beetle ?

And how do you explain the regular pics of the looming Beetle that pop up throughout ?

Well ?

You say you work in an industry and yet you don't even understand what you watch ?

How fucking dare you suggest that I have made up my work history.

LadyEllen -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 3:03:51 AM)

I must say, it is nice to have him on block; but to know from quotes that he is around. Its like knowing there's a man o' war in the surf  from the screams of swimmers venturing near it, whilst lying on the beach.

D'ya think its me? D'ya think he just lives to read my threads and make posts to them?

Is it an attention thing?

'cause I dont think I recall him posting to anyone else's threads, d'ya know?

It might be nice to have a stalker; always important to have something interesting going on in life

Is this the episode in question?

susie -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 3:17:40 AM)

Goodness LadyEllen I had no idea you were so important that you would have your own stalker. Such a shame you cannot choose who you get. It seems he thinks he knows everything about everything even calling me liar over my work history so perhaps you could look around for a better class of stalker please.

LadyEllen -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 3:28:34 AM)

Challenge 1: Buy a used car for up to £1500. Mocking the use of "Chelsea Tractors" for delivering children to school and driving up leafy lanes, rules for the challenge stipulated that the car purchased to cross the spine of Africa had to be two wheel drive, and not designed in any way for off-road use. Clarkson bought a 1981 Lancia Beta Coupe, May a 1985 Mercedes 230E and Hammond a 1963 Opel Kadett, which he nicknamed 'Oliver'. Starting from the Botswana - Zimbabwe border, they then had to drive 1000 miles to the Namibian border. If at any time a presenters' car broke down and could not be restarted, he would have to complete the journey in a Volkswagen Beetle. While the Beetle turns out to be a suitable vehicle for such a challenge, the Beetle is the presenters' collective least favourite car of all time

Episode 4/ series 10 (would you believe Top Gear has its own section in Wikipedia?)

Well, at least now you know better! I am very (self) important!

I did call Stalkers R Us to make a complaint with the manager there that my stalker seems to be defective - but I was told that apparently stalkers are meant to be that way, so no return and no refund.

zakkan -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 3:32:51 AM)

Lol... I was just watching it...

The way they said it "...had to complete the journey in a beetle...." And the look on Hammond's face when his car won't start and the beetle came into view....

And its really obvious they don't like driving the beetle... Everytime it came into view there would be this music...

You deserve no answer. You are nothing but an ignorant little idiot.

Why not answer mine? How dare you suggest I lied about my work history?

LadyEllen -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 4:48:31 AM)

Oh Susie - you're going to get a note from the Mods now

Apparently, you're not allowed to call him an ignorant little idiot.

Suggest using a phrase along the lines of "your posts are idiotic, ignorant and small minded"

Or, you could put him on block?

So the episode was rejoicing the cheap and reliable car and was yet again the Top Gear team poking fun at the ponsy cars driven by wankers. Lesson: the best car might be one you're ashamed to be seen in, but when the budget calls for it, you drive it nonetheless.

But hang on, aren't Top Gear always meant to be lauding cars that no-one can afford ?

It's worth it LadyEllen. I do not appreciate being called a liar by someone that knows nothing about me.

Which confirms you know exactly the final scene I'm referring to and that indeed Jeremy Clarkson announces the VW Beetle the winner. You just don't want to admit you got it wrong.

LadyEllen -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 4:57:01 AM)

Thing is though Susie, it seems to me that he's actually just here to provoke others.

I think he might have got the idea from that Monty Python sketch "is this the right room for an argument?"

Either that or he's very lonely (cant think why with those social skills) and craves any human contact, even if only through an internet connection

You cant win talking to him - even if you told everyone what you had for tea last night, he'd maintain you ate something else

Raechard -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 5:02:15 AM)

I watch TopGear from time to time, have always found it entertaining and funny. I don't give it much thought as to what they are or are not promoting. Similarly I don't go to a movie watch a car chase and worry about what mental effect that will have on an idiot that drives a car. We can't police entertainment because it becomes non-entertainment. TopGear do make the occasional good point: such as you can't find anywhere to park in London if you drive a Rolls Royce, I'm sick of edutainment I find it patronising because I already know what is wrong with the world.

I also watch F1 and?

(can = can't, part = park)

You cant win talking to him -

What I have noticed, and I hadn't detected it earlier, is you like posting threads about Britain. I've called you on the obvious flaws in some of those threads. At times you sound like a BBC news item. Not just the content but the accent as well. The BBC speak in only BBC English, something you never hear anyone in Britain actually use. Same with the thinking of those presenters, they take a BBC viewpoint, often nothing like the reality. They reflect the Britain they want others to believe exists. Your threads have that same flavour. They reference a Britain that has never and will never exist.

So you now claim to know more about the UK than those of us that actually live there? Astounding

LadyEllen -> RE: BBC property programmes make me angry (10/18/2008 5:36:22 AM)

I shall take it as a compliment that our Paul (whose opinion I hold in the high esteem he clearly thinks it deserves of course) believes my writing style to be comparable to that of highly paid BBC writers and journalists. Maybe I should get my CV in?

But if he believes for one moment that I or anyone I know speaks this way..... its all about communicating to an audience that doesnt share the peculiar modes of expression found in this locality; using standard English as the most widely understood and recognised means of communicating with English speakers world wide seems like a good idea. It would be rather odd and parochial to use Black Country dialect after all, and it wouldnt mean a great deal to most Brits, let alone our friends in the US, Canada and elsewhere, including New Zealand.

And whats also odd is that these threads I post that he so loves that he finds it irresistible to comment on them and argue against any point that I or anyone else makes on the subjects raised, are subscribed to also by many of my compatriots - the vast majority of whom rarely seem to find the material presented to be false in itself, even if they might disagree with the initial premise or subsequent development thereof.

So all in all one can only conclude that which has been already concluded in general on the subject of trolling; it is specifically intended to generate attention in any way possible for the troll concerned.
