Status: offline 		So Last night on Letterman McCain dropped the tidbit that he didn't know Sarah Palin very well, but he was impressed with her record as a reformer.  That thought of her a reformer has taken it's share of hits lately.

So does anyone now think he wishes he had actually learned a few things about her first?

Status: offline 		Actually my Father mentioned something close to this the other day. In a word, no.

He has been watching all this junk, and he said that McCain has a CEO mentality, that he can do no wrong, therefore never has any regrets. The way he described that mentality alluded that he thought it actually delusional, maybe mildly, but delusional nonetheless.

Think about AIG execs taking those expensive vacations. Think they have any regrets ?

Nope, someone with that mentality cannot be wrong in their own mind. Therefore no matter how bad they err, they will first justify it to themselves and then get ready to justify it to others. Everybody else is wrong and they shouldn't go around saying I am wrong.

So is that delusional ? You tell me.

Status: offline 		Based on the positive impact Palin has had on the campaign...one has to only look at the pictures of thousands of adoring people at her gatherings, McCain probably feels he made a good decision.  She is a breath of fresh air in national politics, her nomination threw the Obama campaign totally off message, she has been dominating the media, talk shows, comedy shows, internet chat pages...and taking the focus off McCain and putting out a message on Obama and his friends.  Overall, I think she is more than taking her turn at the oar.  Not bad for someone McCain has not worked with for years..like Joe Biden, who represents the oldest of the Washington old guard, brings nothing new to the Obama ticket, and has not provided any bounce with his inclusion on the ticket. He does provide some comedy relief I must admit with his comments...the latest being Obama's focus on a "three letter word"..JOBS!!  Old Joe doesn't know just how funny he can be...

You know...some people believe in "love at first sight"...we all know happily married couples married for years who got engaged after knowing each other briefly.  Sometimes you just feel comfortable with someone...you don't need years of association.  Chemistry is an important ingredient and McCain probably felt that way.  Certainly he wasn't going to pick Huckleberry or Romney...although Romney would have been my choice.

You poor soul.  The only ting showing up at her rallies is that seedy underside of the Republican Party.  The far far right, religious nuts, racist,  you know the sort.  The same ones who have been holding the Republican Party hostage for years now.  John McCain would have been much better off to stay true to himself and tell that portion to go f themselves.  Let them stay home like they threatened to do.  Any bounce and energizing you want to tribute to Palin has certainly been lost with his slide in the polls.  Are do we just ignore that because it doesn't agree with you?

BTW Romney?  You have got to be kidding.  In this economy?  You do understand while in business he was known for taking over and selling off the parts for a quick buck.  He never created any jobs, just money for shareholders.  You think that plays well in this financial disaster?  Your even goofier than everyone thinks if you have any belief the "good christians" were going to ever elect a Mormon,.

Status: offline 		Let me see if I understand this,large crowds at Palin events is evidence of her positive impact on the election.While extremely large crowds(even the need to use a ballpark for his DNC acceptance speech)is proof that Obama is nothing more than "a rock star" devoid of substance....does that about sums it up Cory?

Paralleling McCain's problems are similar ones faced by his running mate, Sarah Palin.

A month ago, more people said the Alaska governor made them more likely to vote for McCain than less likely by 14 percentage points. That gap is now down to 3 points — even as growing numbers say her Democratic counterpart, Joe Biden, makes them more inclined to support Obama.

Status: offline 		After it is all said and done....and that won't be soon enough!....McCain goes back to being the least liked Republican by the Republican's and one of the most liked by the Democrats....Palin goes back to hunting Moose and watching over our borders from her front porch....A breath of fresh air indeed....and a lot of comic relief....

Actually, the McCain campaign got a big bump for a few weeks after she was selected. 

Since then, she's been a two-edged sword.  She's galvanized the right wing of the party, which had been unhappy with McCain, but she'd not winning over moderates and undecideds.  So she's great for fundraising but is dead weight for the ticket.
