There's 2 posts you don't see often back to back. Fortunately, I know you're both legit and sick.

That said, whatever it might be, I would welcome the injection of some other cultural influences to what it seems to be - consumerism and little else.

You say this now; but wait until I force feed you escargots.

Well, if youre going to shell out.....

Thats not quite what I had in mind; what I think we'd benefit from is the sense of community that these "guest cultures" seem to have, you know? The sense of life being about something other than the next gadget or pop culture marketing phenomenon.

But what I see of any cultural transfer is the young people of "guest cultures" rather being lured into exactly those aspects of our culture that I'd like to see diminished and away from those aspects of their culture that I'd like to see increased throughout society

I just had an idea..how about a world that outlaws religion?  All the crap in the world seems based on superstition and religion.

seems a very dangerous experiment then, this multi-cultural thingy?

one which can never be completed such that results might be forthcoming by which it can be judged success or failure, since its an ongoing process?

I am stopping here. I have had enough.
LadyEllen it is obvious to me you know very little of what you speak of.
The article, thus behaviour, you speak of is like unto serial murders and gang murders or mafia fuck.

In the villages of East Africa where I have lived and worked this is an abomination!!
Putting this behaviour in with the culture of these people is an atrocity.

Have you not seen Cry Freedom, The Interpreter, The Constant Gardner and Sarafina...to mention a few.
This behaviour you are calling innate cultural behaviour is a crock of bull.

Compare these atrocities with those of Germany in WWII and tell me we are judging cultural norms.

Read Wilbur W Smith's book A TIME TO DIE and you will see you are barking up a baobob tree.

Perhaps instead of repressing our charmingly creative religious impulses, we could propagate scientific education and a little bit of knowledge to less civilised shores. I see a nice sponsorship coup for Nestle. Yessss! I LOVE it when I think business.

I have started a thread which I am attempting to steer m'dear, into a certain direction, whilst trying to accomplish another aim which I shall not disclose for fear of spoiling things.

You are under no obligation to take part. But it seems you might have something interesting to contribute, so I do hope you will change your mind.

International orgy? Multicultural soup? A polyglot stew?

Look you two - any more of this promotion of the disgusting culinary habits of the French, and I'll report you!

Your kink is NOT OK!

Get yourself a machete, a AK47, some ammo, a shrunken head necklace and LadyE you are in business. Now get out there and get some body parts, make yourself some cash. Don't you know the economy is failing? Gotta make a living somehow.

Actually Lashra, I happen to have one body part that is in much demand apparently, that I dont particularly need any more

Must be worth something on the Soweto market, surely?
