Children out of control need a good swipe accross the tail feathers as a warning and the parents need to be arrested for breaches of duty if care.....

IB,
My friend, in the US if a parent followed your policy the parent would more likely be arrested if they DID give their child a "good swipe across the tail feathers" than if they didn't.

Same here mate.. That is why we have a major juvinile crime problem. Police dare not take action unless there are numerous witnesses and property is severly dammages of an assult victim (perps being juvinile) is critical.. The courts will not deal with offenders and juvi gangs will and do come after complaintants to seek revenge...... There needs to be radical reversal of current laws and bring back the original laws which were very heavy on child protection but never gave children the power to over rule adults which is something I will never agree with or accept..... I'm in favour of boot camps which have worked here with kids turning the corner and helping other kids to become valuable members of society..

Sad but true. I work in a Justice of the Peace court, and yesterday we had a mother with a 14 year old daughter who was verbally abusive and stealing everything that wasn't nailed down. The mother was literally begging for the kid to be sent to boot camp, but because the police said there was no "evidence" of a crime, she could not. We see this all the time. And fear of legal reprisal isn't the only thing stopping punishment, sometimes it's just a "blind" parent. The "my baby didn't/wouldn't do that" shit. Kids are smart, and if they see no consequences from anyone, sure they're going to do what they want, to the detriment of society and ultimately, themselves.

...and you wonder why kids sat at a seperate table during the holiday meals???

Seriously, I'm not sure how much more of this shit I can take. People seem to have far too much time on their hands and are spending it finding ways to create artificial exclusionary environments.

As far as the misbehaving kids in restaurants/public places issue goes, I've developed a method that appears to be working flawlessly so far. I get up and walk over to the little miscreant and calmly ask them, "What seems to be your problem here ? Is there something I can do to help you ?"

You wouldn't believe how silent the table gets and, while I may run the risk of appearing meddlesome, I think the adults at the table secretly appreciate the assist.

i always hated this when i was growning up. another thing that sucked was some in my family believed that the adults should eat first, then feed the kids...made for a rough childhood.

i think i met You in my past life. LOL (j/k) my youngest is ADHD and before he was diagnosed, dinners to a restaurant were rare and when we did go to dinner as a family, it was a family restaurant that had things for the little ones to entertain themselves while waiting for the meal. Llet's face when they are very small AND hungry waiting in a restaurant can be very hard on them. Even now, because of the low tolerance either of my young teenaged men have for waiting, if they even agree to be seen with mom at a restaurant, it is typically some sort of buffet-style restaurant.

i agree with You Bangin, Sir; however, the only time i could even accept a 'segregation' for lack of a better word, would be in an upscale restaurant where most of the clientele are couples out for a romantic dinner and frankly i don't think most couples would bring their children to restaurants of this type.

Was never seated at a seperate table.......so wouldn't know about that.

Secretly appreciate the assist?..... naaaaaa.... probably shocked shocked that you dared to do. And embarrassed because they should of stopped the kid's disruption to begin with.

HentaiGamerKitty -> RE: Children Free Restaurants or Areas in restaurants (3/10/2006 6:43:37 PM)

I vote for child-free areas. I don't have kids and don't like them. I certainly don't want to deal with them while I'm trying to enjoy my dinner (or a movie for that matter.) I will flat out ask to be moved if the hostess seats me next to children. And I'll say it loud enough that the parents can hear it too, something along the lines of "Miss,do you have a NON-CHILDREN area please." Followed by my most disdainful look at the parents. For gods sakes, if you can't afford a babysitter, you can't afford dinner out.

they probably don't want to be seated near you either.

HentaiGamerKitty -> RE: Children Free Restaurants or Areas in restaurants (3/10/2006 7:03:39 PM)

I certainly hope they don't want to be seated near me, lol...I can't stand the nasty things! No offense to you parents but I REALLY can't stand kids in any way shape or form. I actually have sort of a neurosis. I feel VERY uncomfortable around them, especially babies and toddlers. Like, if I get too close to a baby, I have a skin crawling sensation.

If I absolutely have to touch a friends baby (to keep from hurting the friend's feelings), I spend the entire time fighting with my vomit reflex and have to immediately afterwards wash my hands and scrub them for like 5 minutes. They totally freak me out. I have a similiar reaction to pregnant women...nothing personnel, but again, my phobia kicks up around them. Might sound crazy, but it's true.

I feel about them the way some people feel about spiders or snakes...just a very strong, unrational unpleasant reaction. Keep 'em away from me! I had a master who tried to tell me once that if he wanted kids, by god he'd make me get pregnant.

I flat out told that I'd rather commit suicide than have a parasite living in my stomach.

I'm so glad I canceled my 5 other responses to this.... you said it so much nicer than what I had written.

But I still will say this... I would be laughing my ass off when the hostess turns to you.. and tells you the kid free seating area.. is out side on the cold rain.

HentaiGamerKitty -> RE: Children Free Restaurants or Areas in restaurants (3/10/2006 7:05:26 PM)

Fine with me...I'd rather be outside than trying to stomach food staring at one of those things. Seriously, I've never been able to be around them...not even when **I** was a kid..I spent many years sitting by myself on the playground trying to avoid them. I was probably 11 or so before I could handle hanging out with other kids.

Doesn't have anything to do with "afford" to me...........keep the kids in line and all is well..........and if they are being well behaved and you STILL give the parents that look, you're liable to get some mashed potatoes chunked at you one day.

It doesn't matter how well they behave. I can't eat near them. I think part of the reason they freak me out is the way they move..they sort of dart around...and they have really high pitched voices (hurts my ears.) I did meet a kid once that I liked being around...she was 5, daughter of a friend. BUT she was really weird. She was an undersocialized homeschool kid and she was very quiet and still. I actually liked her quite a bit.

You act like I chose to feel this way...I've been this way since I was a kid. I no more control it than I control my fear of heights. And no, I'm not normally an angry person. I actually work in law enforcement and had to pass a pretty rigorous pysch exam to get my job. I'm mostly normal and well adjusted. Just happen to have a phobia. I'm no weirder than the people who have slight obsessive disorders (like washing hands repeatedly.) It's just something I deal with. Why do you take it so personal? It has nothing to do with you.

Could be your attack of the parents in your first post for daring to take their children out in public to begin with.. because of your phobia... we should lock our kids away?...

let me tell you why i took it so personally... it was the way you worded it... in one of the ugliest ways i have ever seen anyone post on these boards...

HentaiGamerKitty -> RE: Children Free Restaurants or Areas in restaurants (3/10/2006 7:34:53 PM)

I'm sorry you take it that way...I have a very strong feeling about them. I feel no reason to sugar coat my words about it. I honestly don't feel like it's my fault that I have so strong feelings. They are just WEIRD to me and they move weird and they talk weird and they have a really odd energy about them...I mean I can be around them if I have to be, but it sets me very much on edge and makes me extremely uncomfortable. It's like being in the room with a snake or something, It just bothers me. I'm sorry I'm weird....but that's just how it is. To me, they DO seem like parasites.

I don't think they should be taken to places designed for adults. The pizza parlor is one thing...a nice restaurant is another. I think that in most restaurants, they should have a separate seating area.

angelic -> RE: Children Free Restaurants or Areas in restaurants (3/10/2006 7:36:27 PM)

do you realize those 'parasites' as you so crudely (crudely is even too nice a word)...they will become the rulers of our countries... and the rulers beyond that and beyond that and beyond that!!!!! and honestly the only thing i can think of right now to say is what is wrong with you? and believe me i do NOT say that lightly...
