We were talking about this at work a few days ago.  I wondered why there were so many more McCain signs than Obama signs.  I was told that I could buy Obama signs for $1/each.  Also that Obama did not have as many signs made as McCain because he was dumping most of his money into television spots (and the channel that is all Obama all the time).  This comes from union guys that are Dems.

Status: offline 		I'm in an apartment, but apparently there are a lot of Obama signs in my parents neighborhood, much to the chagrin of my Dad who is a raving Republican.  My daughter was visiting them today and noticed a sign in the neighbors yard she said "Oh, I see you have a democrat next door", to which my father replied "yeah, we have 'em all over this neighborhood".  I sort of imagined this crowd of silent democrats shambling out their front doors in zombie fashion all converging on the one lone Republican in their midst. (my roving imagination)

Status: offline 		Until last week in Walker (middle class suburb of Grand Rapids, MI) McCain was ahead say 15 to 1.  Now, McCain is still ahead 8 to 1.  However, in Heritage Hills (expensive old area of Grand Rapids) Obama is ahead about 40 to 1 (maybe more) . Strange. Virtually every house for blocks on some streets have Obama signs.  Heritage Hills is a blend of the rich, prominent politicians; and blends into the so called inner city.  Several of the houses were designed by Frank  Lloyd Wright (sic).  I was stunned.

Stealing signs:  Obama signs are being stolen in Walker, but McCain signs are being stolen in the Holland area.  Some McCain persons are chaining down their signs with heavy chains.  I have already lost two Obama signs but write that off to my Vote Yes on the stem cell issue.  Republicans are steamed about the stem cell issue.

The Obama signs are not free here.

No, I would not change my vote based on signs.  My partner feels that the lack of signs in Walker supports the view that many are voting for Obama but will not/or can not admit it.  My boss is voting for Obama but cannot tell his wife or neighbors in Holland.

Status: offline 		I live in Atlanta and my regular excursions take me through parts of Cobb, Cherokee, Fulton and Douglas counties in the suburbs - both in heavily populated areas and out off the beaten path. I was just commenting to my girlfriend the other day that I have yet to see a yard sign for Obama. Lots of McCain/Palin. However, I see more Obama bumper stickers than ones for McCain.

Status: offline 		I like those lawn signs (although they're fucking ugly). We have a 'Stop the war' one on ours (it's the landlord's lawn). It's interesting: there are far more Obama/Biden signs in my city, and the few McCain/Palin stick out like sore thumbs, but at least like that, we know where the enemy resides  .

McCain signs 80%
Obama 20%
and forcloseure (in ratio to the 100% political signs) 15%

You'd think the McCain supporters would realize the connection...

He even charges people to support him. What a fun time it will be in our country if he wins this election. I can't wait.

Status: offline 		Clever of him, isn't it? It's spot-on marketing techniques like that that have enabled Obama to garner a massive war chest the size of a small country :-) . Kudos to him for adapting the spirit of capitalism to his electoral message.

Status: offline 		in my immediate neighborhood there are NO signs.  in fact, I think my Obama/Biden bumpersticker is the only political ANYTHING visible.
on my way to work, I havent seen any signs for the presidential race.. mainly just local offices.  And an increasing number of "for sale" signs in front of homes.

Status: offline 		I don't see a lot of yard signs around here.  I do see yard signs for the people running for mayor.

In our town, which isn't a metropolis by any means.  We have 272 registered voters here.  The only sign in town is my "none of the above" sign.
If you visit any of the local coffee hang outs..most are saying they are also voting none of the above anymore.  Their just frustrated with our choices.

Status: offline 		I drive through a wide swath of SE Iowa. Was down in lapland last weekend and it was mostly McCain, no surprise there as there are always a bunch of homemade, misspelled, anti-abortion signs in that hood also.

Now, you get into the bigger small towns it's about 50/50 I'd say. Get up into the small city of Iowa City and, like Celeste it's an overwhelming flood of Obama.

We h ave those signs as well.  There is a farmer on the way to Laurel who has a trailer in his field.  It used to say...God votes for Bush..anti aborion or something like that.
On the way to work the other day I noticed he was out there spray painting over bush to reflect mcain/plin or something like that.
At least make a statement with decent spelling. 
I'm pretty sure anyone under 50 in these parts doesn't feel it is God's country anymore.

I think it is a measure of the excitement a candidate has in a certain area. Living Port Town now I see all sorts of union signs supporting Obama. I have not seen one McCain sign here. Not a scientific measure of Obama's support here, but I can pretty much tell ya that Obama is taking this district. In the city I go to school there is nothing but Obama/Biden bumper stickers, flyers, etc... so much so that when I saw a female with a "Women For McCain" button I was surprised.... she is the only pro-McCain person I have seen since I moved here a couple of months ago.

Like I said, that in itself proves nothing, but knowing the way this area votes it does go with the pattern (pro-labor, pro-education)

Only to vandalisim, apparently. A friend of mine has a 4'X6' Obama/Biden sign in his yard, and the local rednecks seem to love to deface it in the middle of the night.

McCain is slammed for having money and Obama is praised for having a war chest the size of a small country.
