ResidentSadist -> RE: Old Gaurd (10/19/2008 11:52:39 PM)

Old Guard refers to a respectful leather lifestyle that includes manners, protocol and strictly defined roles unlike the “new age” of undefined, unaware, uninformed and impolite populace that is currently infiltrating the BDSM scene.

Did that definition sound just a tiny bit biased do you think?  LMAO

RS at least this was not a thread asking about what are "Goreans", that really might have caused a stir.  Talk about being Biased.

Personally, I was thinking that it sounded uninformed and revisionist.  But that is just me.

The site below has excellent links to information about what is debatably referred to as 'Old Guard" and "New Guard".

Are you using Ipsum as a placeholder by chance?

WestBaySlave -> RE: Old Gaurd (10/20/2008 12:49:41 PM)

Old Guard means they send you a string of expleteives if you say "Hello" rather than "please SIR, i beg YOU to consider my unworthy ass!" [:D]

I'm sure there are many decent people who are "Old Guard", but every encounter I've had with a dominant who self-identifies as that has been silly at best. Old Guard slaves might be polite, but I've never met a self-identified Old Guard  "MASTER" who didn't feel it was his godly right to be rude and abusive from the first message on.

On paper or in electronic print I'm sure Old Guard means a host of other things to other people; this is merely my experience with self-identified Old Guard types online.

I mean that the subject of Old Guard (and numerous variations of the subject) is so often heatedly debated. I left a placeholder instead of adding to the discussion at this moment.

JustDarkness -> RE: Old Gaurd (10/20/2008 1:40:24 PM)

I see..but it propably did the opposite...mentioning it..then when you wouldn't have put the place holder..lol
you can have my helmet when it escalates :P
