There are several options in reading these message boards. One can attempt to find the amusement, entertainment or messages posted in here, most of which are funny, educational, or simply differing viewpoints of a world in which One might have some interest. Had i been looking to teach literacy, there are places where One can volunteer to do so.
i left my communications degree in my pants, at the door. i bit my tongue strongly (a masochist trick) to not correct the initial post and ask if You plan to join us in the mass enrollment in the literacy course. i am still trying to figure out what "fora" means. (Latin plural for forum?) Forums is a correct usage these days as forum has become a part of the English Language. Wrong or incorrectly are words, wrongly is not a proper adverb except legally where one might have been "wrongly" accused. To point all this out would have been petty of me, so i tried softly at first.

Dat been sed, liten nup, reelaks an injoi yuseff 'smoah bettah ta see da palms wit da fronz insted a ta git vexin wid fokes.

They say it's a good plan to learn the language when One travels. Welcome to the planet.

i am not absolutely certain, perhaps Mistress Dread can tell you (check on the prior page). the only thing that i was trying to point out is that even without using perfect english or being an error free typist, thoughts can be conveyed, and communication can happen. All it takes is for someone to look past or through the noise, and look for the content.
i try to keep an open mind, but not so open that my brains run out.

ebonics originally is a phrase started and used to define childrens speach from oakland CA mainly whom come from either a black or black/spanish background whom spoke and wrote a broken american english because of their multicultural background and having several languages that were not english spoken in the home. Of course thru the years the ebonics word has been used to exploit and explain away any kind of language that others percieve as being either of a minority based or other country based lanaguage not totally understood or written up to standard english or american english standards which would be a simple misnomer of those whom perceive such and even many African Americans have come to behold the language of ebonics as a language they would like to be seen as an official language of those whom are of their nationality accepted with in the USA. However I am not speaking ebonics here dixie when I choose to write in My Homes language of Pathos. Equalling Pathos and Ebonics would be simalar to equalling American english to Englands English in effect. Might I suggest reading a little into the center for applyed linguistics in order to enlighten your questions into languages here is a link..

I checked out the link in your comment and learned some things. I remember how controversial that was when it first occurred. The article explained it a lot better than Dan Rather.

I live in the southern USA and am well aware of how different we sound to others. I saw a question in a Q/A column about celebrities. A man from up north wanted to know if the young blond actress on CSI:Miami had a lisp as he couldn't understand her. The answer was, "No. That's a southern accent."

There's a time and a place for everything. This is a message board and the point seems to be to get your idea across to a variety of people with a wide variety of writing ability. The better you express yourself, the more likely you'll be understood. Maybe it can be argued that it exercises our brains to read and understand non-standard English.

maybe I am just being dense here, but I would think that the nationality of a *****-American would still be American - it says so right there in the label they choose to apply to themselves - and therefore the official language would be US English

then again, I find this whole politically correct labeling thing to be a load of hogwash anyway - how can it be considered logically correct to say you are, for example, an African-American if you, your parent, your grandparents, and your great grandparents were all born and raised in the USA and not Africa? just because you happen to have high concentrations of melanin in your skin? to me, the only people who are African-Americans are those who 1) hold both USA and some country in Africa citizenships or 2) those born in Africa who have become USA citizens --- everyone born here in the USA is simply an American, regardless of race, ancestry, skin colour, religion, sex, whatever.

or should I start calling myself a Celtic-Aryan-Francophonic-Native American just because I have Welsh and German and English and French and American Indian people in my ancestry??

A person's right, based on the color of their skin, and their ethnic background, to choose a "tag" and base their speech/language of choice and primary communication, on that? Am I correct? Are they bilingual?

There is no * official langage of the USA.
However there has been a fight for such for
over twenty years and might I suggest
this link to enlighten those whom were not
aware that This fight was fought and lost
recently here in the USA but the endevors
to bring such continue on and not only that
but was brought about by a immigrant and
not a actual born in the USA type person.
I think this would make for sum interesting
reading for those whom desire All Americans
to speak English and whom actually are the
folks whom rally this Cry. You might be surprised

Everybody desires to have things that they
can associate with their * heritage and this
particular language was just one item sum
African Americans desired to use.You are not
being dence, Just not understanding how sumone
whom has a heritage stripped away from
them as well as their language and belief structure
try to gain back sumthing in sum small way

deemed to be credited to those of their
heritage of the past, that is all. Those whom
have more pigment then others have such

where they were removed forcefully from
their place of being and even their language

quite 50 years where those with more pigment
then others in the USA were not judged as non
human simply because of how they looked and
not given any credit for their values and contend
of charactor. Im currious what ways you have
which make You unique Thanatosian, what words
You use that are not of the norm or maybe the
way you go about in your daily actions or even
what kinds of foods You cook and eat that might
show a clue of what your background and heritage
is much less how your physical features show. We all
desire to define Our selfs by Our past
and roots and I do agree with the addage
that once a person is either born in the US
or comes here and becomes a US Citizen
they are simply American and I a first generation
American of My family relate strongly to this fact
but being American can and does mean
so much more then just who We are today
alone and much more then just Our present
day which makes Us who We are and much of that
does dirive from Our heritage and pasts.
Linguistics are a reflection of not just our past
but how We desire to define whom We are. JMO.

I am not pulling any legs Pathos or for those of English decent Pathois or what others call Patwa is My language. Sum of My heritage is Arawak Indian. It is West Indian and comes from mainly the Island of Jamaica alltho there are other Islands in the Caribbean that use other dilets simalar to Jamaica Pathos and even a dialect of it is used exclusivly in parts of louisianna in the USA where sum of the slaves taken from the Caribbean ran to their freedom to the outter islands of the area.There are other Indian dialects of Central, South and North America whom have simalar dialects of Pathos as well. FYI.

i doth my chapeau, and mantel to You, Ma'am, You have worn out the secret decoder that i keep under my hat. i am not terribly well versed in italian, and have not ventured to Greece. I am still trying to figure out if that last line is Dutch or Norwegian. In all honesty, i probably butchered the German as well.
