NumberSix -> RE: Combat Brigade ready on US soil.. WTF?? (10/24/2008 10:43:21 PM)

Alot.

You are out here  in a political forum, you are giving some opinion, and I am pointing out that your opinion holds no commerece for the folks that are within your ENTIRE age of retirement.  That is, I got shoes older than you at 22, and what you are looking for to get ahead is not in my best interest.  I will retire within 20 years, and you will take 8 hour showers sometime in that 20 years and thinking to yourself, should I just wobble this motherfucker without having any kinda backup?

I play aikijutsu, and your samba may(or may not) win...............not a concern,. I will also bet I have snorted more drugs than you , fucked more girls, got more blowjobs and yadda yadda yadda........but it dont mean nothing.

Nevertheless...

You are out here hepping some dumbasses to your wisdom( and just like reagan; I am saying no!!!)

But what about those of us who feel otherwise?  Wouldn't calling it useless in turn say that our reasons were equally useless?

...no, thats the logical fallacy you've been defending. As has been pointed out to you repeatedly, it is entirely possible to decry the reasons for going to war and thus the war itself......at one and the same time as supporting the individual soldiers over there.
You seem to be confusing sociology and psychology. The act of going to war was a societal act.......the individuals actually doing the fighting are doing so because of their own personal psychology.  Do you get it yet?

Let me see if i can put it in another context you can understand........

People can and have argued that the IRS is unconstitutional (not saying i agree but some have argued that), however even those who hold that position don't blame individual tax collectors.......

Iraq is a useless war.......it fails any actual test of usefulness. An individual soldier, however, is not useless. Their reasons for joining up range from economic to ideological.....maybe even a few joined up because they believed the administration when they were told of WMD's in Iraq, not many joined up for that reason but maybe some. The long and the short of it is that they were lied to. It doesn't take away from their honour or their patriotism. If anything it enhances those things.......but just because an individual is a honourable patriot does not mean they always know when they have been lied to....at least not until afterwards.
You seem to be arguing that truth or falsehood is irrelevant. That the reason for going to war as a country is irrelevant. You seem to be arguing that there is no political, only personal (as an aside, an interestingly feminist argument). In that last regard you are simply mistaken.

I may be mistaken.  But I will still feel the same in the end.  I can't place a single plastic sticker upon this and write it off so quickly.  I don't know what else to say about it really.  In any event, I need to attempt to get some sleep...good night.  It was fun, we need to do this again some time.

...my sympathies then. Clearly events in this war have been so vivid for you personally that the societal implications or justifications are meaningless to you. Chances are those events were horrific. All i can hope is that, in time, you'll find yourself in a position where you can find perspective on the whole sorry affair.

Wow, you have two profiles...how internet savvy of you?  I don't care if you have the first pair of Converse ever made, and as for your retirement...good luck with that.  I hope your IRA doesn't tank with the rest of the economy.  Also, I really can't understand most of what you've written so I'm just making guesses as I go along.

Again, I'm not contesting the drugs bit.  I don't see your point in making useless contests of bullshit.  You're celebrating things that really don't matter, or as you so eloquently put it at the end of your post, "it don[']t mean nothing."

Oh...and by the way, samba is a dance.  And you don't "play" aikijutsu...you "practice" aikijutsu.

Again...going to sleep.  See you in the morning

Phil,

Kudos to you for trudging through the Patriot Act. You know that makes you a masochist, right? [;)]

Heh, right now it's just giving me a headache. i keep having to look things up and cross referencing and, aw hell......it's a major pain. However, as an interested observer i feel obligated.
i think it's going to take me longer than i thought too.......i shall start a thread on it once i finish, but at this rate that's not going to be until the middle of next week.

.........and i am not a masochist, honest.......more service oriented, and i can't service anything unless i understand it [:D]

BitaTruble -> RE: Combat Brigade ready on US soil.. WTF?? (10/25/2008 11:38:35 AM)

The cross-referencing is a pain in the ass. I did not print it out because it would kill too many trees and I'm hippy that way. Trudge on!

I am going to ask nicely once, do not tell me that what we have paid for is stupid and those we left behind were there for nothing...

I would like for "pammie" Anderson to suck my cock...It would appear that you and I are going to be dissappointed.
All that going to war does is make rich people richer and poor people dead.
There are two kinds of people in the military...chumps and leaders of chumps.
All wars are fought so that the winner can fuck the loosers' women and take their dope.  If you don't believe that then you are a chump.  If you do believe it you are one of those who lead the chumps.  One is a gangster commiting armed robbery on an international scale the other is by definition a chump.
If one does not like being a chump then they should stop being a chump.

Despite conspiracy theories that this could be a first step toward martial law in the U.S., there won't be tanks on Main Street or active-duty troops putting down demonstrations. That is barred by federal law banning the military from being used on U.S. soil for domestic law enforcement.

yeah...posse comitatus forbids it...however, laws are just ink and paper, and you'd be a fool to think that the federal government wouldn't simply ignore these rules if need be.

for instance: the national gaurd 'assisting' the police forces patroling new orleans after katrina and helping them confiscate licensed weapons.

there is a good reason Jefferson was opposed to a standing army...

I would really like to clarify something which I find a little annoying in this thread.  We are not here to suppress your rights as a citizen, we are here to protect you and give you aid.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm sure that's what you think the military is for. But in the end, the military is the sword of the government that wields it. if the government feels it needs to suppress our rights, you'll be what enforces that. and I doubt many military men have the conviction to stand up against orders to, say, fire on protestors on a college campus.

I don't think it is you that is the problem.

It is the commander-in-chief.

yes. the person giving the orders is a problem.

so are the people who carry out the orders.

ever hear of the Nuremberg Trials?

Holy necrosis batman!  People are trying to resurrect a dead thread.  This battle has been fought and ended...leave it alone.

shatteredplaster -> RE: Combat Brigade ready on US soil.. WTF?? (11/6/2008 11:14:47 PM)

No, I think you're just trying to stir up another fire-fight.  Have fun playing with yourself, toy-soldier.  :)
