Damnit I wish I lived in 2040 when great advancements in internet technology will lead to tactile communication systems.

windchymes -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 3:25:04 PM)

I use a stock avatar here that has a resemblence to me.  I don't want to post a real photo for personal privacy reasons, although I do send it in email if requested and I like you.

BlackPhx -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 3:32:09 PM)

BlackPhx and I are pretty much out so what you see is what you get. I take a bad enough picture as it is that is it hard to recognize me from a photo...and he is just so yummy you would know him anyway.

Sides if you meet us, it ain't for the looks you'll be staying but the sadism, the chat, the laughter, and the food.

Arpig -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 3:42:40 PM)

I have often wondered the same thing...why one would use a face pic of someone other than themselves. My avatar is me (No shit!!! like anybody would pick a balding greying guy in glasses)

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 3:53:03 PM)

You could have cropped the top of your head off and then no one would know.[8|]

chamberqueen -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 4:02:46 PM)

I chose to use a cartoonish image because I didn't want people to judge my comments based upon my looks.  Just yesterday I removed my profile pic because I am sick of men writing to me, both Doms and subs, telling me how attractive they think I am and wanting me to do something with them.  The very first line of my profile says in big bold letters that I am collared yet people seem to miss that.  I don't see myself as alluring, but others seem to, and I'm tired of being judged by my looks instead of my thoughts.

If you have a photograph of someone else, be it a model or actress or whomever (not a little cartoon or picture of a landscape or what have you, but an actual photograph of someone who's is not you), why?

I like the Galadriel character from Lord of the Rings... and I have been told I slightly resemble Kate Blanchett

Poen:  I immediately recognized you.. the pic on your profile doesnt do either of you justice..seriously...  (I wish I'd been able to stay long enough for the sadism part.. but the rest ROCKED!!)

UmbraDomina -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/26/2008 8:10:28 PM)

My avatar is a picture of me, I don't show my face on line ( privacy, & carear concerns)
I think soon I will have to do another batch of no face photos for me to use online.

Vendaval -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 3:08:47 AM)

Hello puella,

Like several others have mentioned, I have family and career concerns that preclude using a real face photo.  The avatar I chose has a thoughtful pose and it just felt right.

FullfigRIMaam -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 6:45:26 AM)

I can't say I understand the logic of putting someone perceived to be hotter than you on your avatar rather than yourself, only to possibly later disapoint.
I would prefer a mediocre avatar presentation, and others being pleasantly surprised that I look same or better in real life.   M

XaviersXian -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 6:56:59 AM)

greetings to all,

My avatar is not me, but I am always very quick to point people I get along well with to my real picture.  I do not put an actual pic of myself up here because I like to control who sees it.

well wishes,

GreedyTop -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 7:55:09 AM)

Xian...I am heartbroken!!  :)

LaTigresse -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 8:26:02 AM)

Mine really is me, I promise. I am a work in progress.

Actually, though I still have some photos up on the other side, I just got sick to death of looking at my own face on this side.

Darias -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 8:29:31 AM)

The less than  impressive avatar beside Me is infact Me. both because i cant yet find an avatar that displays the insanity that is my personality and because i like to think i have a trustworthy face and people will be less likely to doubt my seriousness when they see the avatar

See i got through that seriousness part without being hit by lightening

beargonewild -> RE: Faking out with avatars (10/27/2008 8:41:45 AM)

I believe in the concept of true in advertising which is the reason why my avatar is a photo of myself. I'm another who doesn't have to worry about career concerns as I'm self employed and have the attitude that what I do here has no bearing on my working life. I figure that there's no point in disguising my looks as somewhere down the line, I'd get caught trying to hide what I look like! So for me, showing what I do look like bypasses any awkwardness trying to describe myself to someone who's wanting to know what I look like.
