CalifChick -> RE: Either new or used,What do you buy online? (10/27/2008 4:26:57 PM)

Almost always, things I cannot find very easy locally. Such as: Computer parts/supplies. When my daughter's older laptop needed a new battery, I checked online and called all the usual places (Compusa, BestBuy, etc.), and no one had any of that particular battery in stock. One place told me that if they did get it, it would cost about $200 (and I could be mis-remembering, but it was alot of money). I found one on ebay, new in the package, for less than $50, if I remember right. Clothing, shoes, lingerie that fall outside of the "typical" sizing for that item. For instance, I wanted saddle shoes for my schoolgirl outfit. Can't find them locally in a size other than a kid size. I ended up getting a pair of plaid shoes at a local place anyway, because the online reviews for the adult saddle shoes were kinda "iffy" on the sizes. Whenever they say, "if your foot is wide, just order a longer size", I know it won't fit me. You can't cram a wide foot into a long narrow shoe. Well, maybe YOU can, but I can't. LOL. Same deal with lingerie - there's alot more variety online for us cushier gals than there is locally. One of the things that is important to me when I do buy online is that the seller has taken the time to measure the item and provide details. Does that "short skirt" fall 10 inches from the waistband? Fifteen? Does that garter belt have plastic clips (yucky) or metal clips (YES!)? Is it stretchy or non-stretchy? All that sort of thing.
