Ran across this in wiki :

"Adding tomatoes to clam chowder was shunned, to the point that a 1939 bill making tomatoes in clam chowder illegal was introduced in the Maine legislature"

US citizens are forbidden by law to have contact with extraterrestrials, what year did that happen again ?

There were sedition trials.

People were forbidden to own gold, right at the time when they needed it the most, it was actually worse than it is now.

Laws against sodomy etc. have been in place for a long time, enforced or not, have they been repealed ? What about prostitution ? Who owns that pussy, the Woman or the government ? As far as I am concerned actually prostitution is nasty and they should try to get a better job, but if they want to rent themselves out, it is none of my business.

Question is, in the last hundred years or so, has any legislator ever even read the Constitution ? It's time we stopped fooling ourselves and/or letting them fool us. They certainly don't fool me. This has never been a free country and it never will be.  We may have had a chance in the past to become such but those days are over.

Don't even get me started on religion.

Termy,

That made me laugh, as a native Mainer, that is so true. That "Manhattan" style clam chowder with the tomato base will get  you out in the stockade in the town square here

The 2003 Supreme Court decision in Lawrence vs. Texas invalidated all the sodomy laws in the states that still had them.  My state struck down our sodomy laws in 2001.

Manhatten Clam Chowder is nasty, Mike.  I love New England Clam Chowder, but tomatoes in clam chowder is definitely a hard limit.

I have to disagree with you.  I hate Aerosmith.  I do love those lobster rolls in New England.  You can't get that in this part of the country, lobster is too expensive to spare it for sandwiches.

So many to reply to...so little time.
Well in order of importance...where the fuck is this woodshed, and how do I get there
Slaveboy the fact that you don't like Aerosmith.....shows a lack of taste to begin with..so this conversation is a non-starter
CL...is this a news flash from Red Sox Nation....This Yankee fan discounts all such propaganda
Now back to that woodshed thing....Kitiin,I must agree with Aynne,I am a squirmer and will require very tight and restrictive"holding".....very close...and tight.

well- Im bowled over by the weather pattern that rolled in.

did you know that the signers of the constitution had bad things happen to them?   they in effect blacklisted themself.   The same would happen today ----  if anyone tried it.

but back to Term, yeah- we have too many obsolete laws on the books.

Right now- the world is mad at the dollar.  We sold them a pig in a poke. So how will it be resolved?  Well massive deaths.

Hundreds of millions will starve to death in Africa and Asia.

We are so fucked it isnt funny.

When the damage is known- things will be so bleak- none of that will matter.

so- likely some mystery germ will kill many.

Proper food and sanitation will be a luxury.

everything has changed,

the number of days to HARD core hard times is numbered.

Horseshit squared and cubed.

"Hard times" are only what you make of them.

When has it ever been otherwise?

A man's priorities have always been (in this order):
1. Family
2. Home
3. Friends

In "good times" and in "bad times", these are the things to which a man must attend. These are the jobs that cannot be delegated. These are the responsibilities that can never be shirked. This is ever and always the order of things.

There are no hard times. Every day brings new challenge and new opportunity--but is rarely clear on which is which.

Times are never hard. They merely are.

Or ..

1. God
2. Country
3. Family

Or any other order or priority that an individual decides.

Obviously, it's subjective.
