But...."God" seems interested in death anyway..then is it when you get rewarded..with heaven .
So I wonder if they are related ;)

(just thinking uploud...)

No idea what's going in Rule's mind half the time - you'll have to ask him. But on reflexion, it demonstrates how surreal it is to claim moral superiority over others on the spurious basis that one has faith and knows what God wants.

It all depends on the god we're talking about.  This conversation is heavily weighted toward the monotheistic judeo-christian god.  Seems like there's a whole 'nother world out there god-wise, that is.  I mean, there are many cultures that have a god/goddess of death and distruction and it fits with the comprehensive world view they have.  Their gods/goddess are often falliable (sp?) with human-like tendancies.  I bet this discussion would be quite different held through the filter of other religious sensibilities.

~FR~

Christina..

I do acknowledge that you (and everyone else) are entitled to your views. I have no problem with those that think that abortion is wrong - UNTIL someone tells me that I am somehow morally bankrupt for feeling that it is my CHOICE.
I do not feel that anyone has the right to behave as those people Rhi had to face did.  I don't feel that the govt. or church has any business telling me what 'is best' in a situation where I am the ONLY PERSON that knows what exactly is going on that might drive me to the decision.

You (generic) may feel abortion is wrong.  Fine. So do I. But I demand the right to make the decision based on what *I* know about MY situation.

(spring would be better, hon.. Summers can be MISERABLE here!)

Oh! Sacrilege! Haven't you heard? The rest of humanity that does not believe in the one and only God is misguided and ignorant - God speaks to its followers.

What's interesting is that there are many Christian churches that are pro-choice - the Presbyterians, Methodists and American Baptists spring to mind.

I believe the Episcopalians do also (at least the ones that elected an openly gay Bishop, that is..)

Oh!  you are a trouble maker!  Presbyterians, might as well be commies.  Methodists, everyone knows they are one step out of the occult and well, American Baptists, they might as well be Unitarians.  andI don't do emoticons much.... this is like a sugar-high on emoticons.

These people are all Christians, they all believe in God... yet they are more tolerant with regards to abortion than other anti-choice Christians. I do wonder what these latter think of this?

Are you cheerleading for troublemaking  ?

chtistianity and murder are in total opposition 2 each other.  you simply cannot be in favor of both.  you cannot be christian and pro choice.

...ok, you've presented your thesis clearly. i don't think anyone is in any doubt as to where you stand.......however, you don't seem to have addressed the thesis in the OP one whit. i'm asking nicely......read it. Tell us why God wants us to have free will, yet your apparent concept of Christianity precludes it.

there is more then 1?

There is the single Divine and there are the many incarnate gods with their multitudes of avatars. Each of the incarnate gods has many names in the various world mythologies. The misinterpretations arise when the characteristics of the Divine and of the incarnate gods are attributed to each other. It would be just as inaccurate to say that fish have elephant trunks.

Anyone who uses the concept God without being able to distinguish between the Divine and the incarnate gods verily does not know what he or she is talking about.

God and christianity..already are 2 different things...
makes it hard to discuss

God might be against killing ( hypothetical)
christianity (mans view on gods word) might find it handy as a tool

knees2you: I acknowledge your point and your views and they are valid for you. As I had written my earlier post, I tried to get several points across in relation to the OP's posting. As I stated, I will not specifically state my own personal stance on this subject and I still haven't. People will infer and assume I have cast my lot one way or another and that is something I have no control over. At the same time I am not that arrogant to dictate what a woman should or should not do regarding her own body. Neither will I be arrogant enough to assume that I fully know what drives a woman to seek termination of  a pregnancy. All I can do is have a personal opinion on what I believe is murder based solely upon my own moral values I have adopted in the 47 years of my existence. To do otherwise is to infer I am an omnipotent being and trust me....I am far from being a god.
