Something that I've owned a couple of in my life are tooled leather waist cinchers. (It does take some investment in leather.) Take heavy brown kraft paper (you can buy it ant office supply & shipping stores) and use that to cut experimental shapes and sizes and widths. My most recent purchase is a very simple design of two pieces (why corsets used to be called a pair of corsets, because each have was "a corset", just as trousers are alwas a pair, one to each leg). It laces up the back as well as up the front, which makes it adjustable to widening/slimming waistlines. About 6 inches wide at the back, and most of the way round to where it each half widens out like the bell of a trumpet (symmetrically) to about 9 inches wide at the front lacing. The most gorgeous belt/cincher I ever had like that was a much lovelier design, with a sort of mild S-curve from below the waist in back to above the (iliac) crest of the hipbone as it comes around, and then widened sinuously to a rounded center front lacing. The back of that was permanently laced (fancily) together with good leather lacing, and the thing that sold it was the Celitic knotwork interlaced dragons tooled (actually die-stamped) symmetrically on the two halves of the stiff leather. I'd pay good money to have one that fit me made up and tooled to a design that I liked. I still have it, but that was 50 pounts ago, and there's no room vertically between my ribs and my hips to tightlace more than an inch or so. Lady Delilah Deb P.s. Part of what might make this a good venture is the number of plus, minus, and other-sized people who cannot afford a custom fitted corset. You can keep the construction simple because there's only the two identical (mirror image) pieces of leather to cut. Once you have made up your paper pattern pieces, ideally on friends in a scattering of sizes with various figure challenges (top heavy, bottom heavy, long waisted, short waisted, no waisted, hourglass figure, Willendorff-shaped, titless wonders, stegeoptygous, transgendered, cross-dresser, scoliosis…), you can make one for yourself to set folks drooling, maybe give one as a give or at cost to a widely travelled domina. Marketing 101.
