My set of Harry Potter books.

I know its kinda lame, but its something I spent half my (current) life reading. Should make for good memories when I'm old.

Hmmm. I had to get rid of 90% of my possessions in August, some I strongly regret leaving behind. Like my antique Oriental rugs, selling those for a few hundred each broke my heart. They were family pieces that I couldn't keep and had to 'dump' really quickly for a fraction of their worth both monetary and sentimental.

Of what I was able to keep two things come to mind.
My collar. It isn't of huge monetary value but ohboy its value in my heart is immense.
A dollhouse made from a log w/ original jointed animals from Germany. One of the very few things I have from my childhood.

Having to dump nearly everything I owned was (and apparently still is) painful but it forced me to prioritize.

It helps a teensy bit knowing that PJ is enjoying one rug.

It's funny...I was just thinking of how I was going to start to go through my stuff this weekend. I'll be making some career/life changes next year and won't be able to take most of what I own to wherever I go.

I'd like to say my cats but....they pretty much own me lately so that's out.

Pictures and books.  The pics of family members who have died and photos of places I've been.  I'm wall-to-wall books and it will be hard to part with many of them but change is good......right?

Oh...also, my rock collection. I have rocks from all over the world I've pick up and some that friends have given me from their travels.
Yeah....sorting out things isn't going to be easy.

Ha!! Doesn't it, though?! Can you think of a foundation that could possibly be stronger? I think not!

over the years since 05 in fact the kids and i have lost everything, from their father whom i was with over 10 years, to me being unable to do massage work due to severe fibromyalgia, two house fires, and barely keeping the electricity on, and now the greatest man of my life dumped me....... yet i am still blessed i have my children who are amazing, no complaints about everything they have lost, and God, i guess they arent possesions but they are certainly the only thing i have saving me right now, that and my few friends i have here. im a closed book, hardened over the years so i have to say that i only have a handful of friends that i truly trust.... i do thank God everyday for everything we have and for all of you putting up with me

ok virgin ill fly over and bring you a toradol shot, or phenobarbitol  which do you prefer

Since I don't think of living creatures as possessions I cannot list them. They go where I go, so that is just a given.

I was trying to think of specific things I have that I value over others. If I don't value something, I tend to either forget I have it, or get rid of it. So, I just have to cheat and say, my house and it's contents!

And I am now coveting Kitten's Cambodian buddhas.

I wonder ...if I violate TOS, would "domi made me do it"  be a valid defense ?

I have a plaster casting that I made of my two children holding hands.  It is just of their hands, up to the wrists.  They are 9 years apart in age, and the sight of the little one's hand (she was one year old at the time, I believe), clasping the thumb of the older one just makes my heart melt.

I also have handprints made in plaster when the little one was just a couple of months old.  The older one did her impression first, then we pressed the little one's hand inside that.  It was actually a father's day gift for their dad, but it's in my possession for safekeeping.

Just keep any signed books, or any first edition books, or any you especially value.  Almost any other book can be replaced on Amazon for very little, sometimes pennies.

The only possessions I am really passionate about are my photos.
I have photos going back to when I was still in diapers, and I take new ones constantly. Most of them I have saved on CD or DVD, as backups.
I love being able to create something beautiful, usually with very little effort, and have the memories live on even when my memory cant keep the image.

I'm not much into material stuff & as I get older, my desire to rid myself of "things" grows stronger.  I do have a science project that is nearly 50 years old that I would be hard-pressed to leave behind.  I collected the leaves of over 100 species of plants & trees & preserved them on pages in a binder along with info about each.  I loved doing the project & I love showing it to people now.
My one other possession that I love is the collection of poems that my daughter hand-wrote for me & gave me for Christmas in 1989.  I would really miss that.
The rest?  Who cares!!!  Just stuff, after all.
