I highly highly highly recommend this product for your joints along with glucosamine chondroitin.    I didn't have to have surgery on my neck because of it.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 1:17:32 PM)

I've had to go through all the background checks/fingerprints stuff to haul haz-mat, so I wouldn't have a problem with that.  And I know what you mean, Carrie, when you say you don't recommend craigslist.  I'll check out the link you sent & see what I can do about getting something cooking here!!  Thank you so much!

And thank you Aileen for your link also.  I'm going to try some of that, since I have arthritis pretty much everywhere now.

Pet sitting.... My mom started a pet sitting business and while it's still getting off the ground she has one client who works 12 hour shifts and usually needs her several times a week. The only downside is you do have to get insured and heavily advertise, but if you do overnight visits and things and they charge 16 dollars for a 30 minute visit. Works out pretty well. Not enough to live on yet though and you do have to love animals.

On the other hand I have a Master's in Analytical chemistry so I look at science jobs all over the US pretty much on a daily basis sooo if anyone is looking for chem/ biochem biology etc.. jobs you can always shoot me an email on the other side. If I weren't so picky I'd be full time employed already :P

I impose order on chaos.  Srsly!  I mean, I am a teacher, and a CPA/tax specialist, but really I wade into the shit and clean it up.  Reorganize the disasters, streamline the business ops, get the new businesses going,  vet the potential new ones.  Any takers?

It could be like tabatha's salon takeover only we would title it Lady H taking over!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 1:30:33 PM)

Yeah, I could do a reality show!  [8D]

impishlilhellcat -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 1:32:53 PM)

I think you should write bravo with your skills/ credentials and why you should have your own show.... They are the kings of reality tv or CBS.

A little off topic here, but I just wanted to comment on the use of Glucosamine and Chondroitin for joint pain......

I have had arthritis since I was in my late 20's.  Danged family genes.....   I began taking glucosamine and chondroitin years ago to help with the pain and flexibility.  It worked.  Then after doing some reading and research, I began taking "Tart Black Cherry" capsules, and more recently, Hyaluronic Acid.   Studies have been done showing that there is a component in cherries (the dark ones especially) that helps joints move easier.  (and they taste good, too!!)   Hyaluronic Acid helps the fluid in the joints.

I was taking all of these supplements at the same time, but out of curiosity, thought I'd drop the glucosamine and chondroitin to see what effect it would have.  Well, I haven't taken them in several months now, and with just the Black Cherry caps and hyaluronic acid, I am flexible and pain free.  And even my knees don't suddenly "go out" on me like they used to.

Just wanted to share that with anyone who might be interested.

~~~ we now return you to our regularly scheduled Forum.......~~~
Get the new businesses going....hmmmmmm, now that's a thought.
You know, when you step out of the box and look at what people need to have done....professional organizer, for example.....your options really open up.
I hope this thread doesn't fade into the woodwork because I'm getting some great ideas.
impishlilhellcat -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 1:49:15 PM)
You can pay someone to come in and organize your closets/pantries for you and rooms. You can pay someone to do your grocery shopping for you, you can pay someone to go pick out clothes for you. All you really have to do is a little research and a little advertising. Get yourself in the phone book and a webpage and you are good to go.
Linea....
You're most welcome.
Raymond, I love your ideas.  My problem is that I get stuck in a box & can't thnk outside it.  I would love to tutor or nanny as I adore children.
Linea if your great with math and computer skills you can usually post a notice at the high schools. middle schools, and if there is a community college around in your area. Depending on whether or not they come from high school or college you can base your rate on that. Tutors for college level at least for chem and math usually run at about 15-20 dollars an hour and most tutors specify that there be a two hour minimum a week.
Sometimes when you peruse MOnster trak there will be postings for places that need tutors also. A lot of them are computer based so that the student can log on and you two can communicate via instant messenger or phone. Often times those places don't offer much more than 8 dollars or so an hour, but you can specify your hours and when you want to work
And now for On-Topic comments.......
Since we are advertising our skills, training, abilities, and talents here, looking for work, here's mine.
I have a unique skill that people hardly ever give a thought to.  I am a Voice-Over talent.  I do radio and TV commercials, Industrials or training films, Ads On Hold, narrations, books on tape, etc.  I have a theatrical background, and have been trained as a V/O talent.  I'm looking for a Talent Agent(cy) here in the Cleveland area to get bookings for me, or for a producer, studio, or production company that hires directly.  I have headshots, a resume, and a demo CD.   Distance need not be a problem, as I can read and record a script via the phone or Internet.
I'm loving this thread!!  I just remembered something else that I'm really good at.  I can be with dying people, doing practical stuff & emotional stuff.  I have no degree or certification for anything medical, but I love helping the dying on their way.  I've done this for friends & family members & also as a volunteer with an AIDS program in the late 80's/early 90's.
On fetlife, there is a group called "Spank You Very Much".  Someone just posted a "help-wanted" for a female voiceover for a short bit in an erotic film already completed (the live action actress doesn't want her voice used).
hejira92 -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 3:19:32 PM)
Hey! I've done a bit of VO, too (mostly corporate video and video press releases. I did audition for a series of meditation tapes, but didn't get it). I don't yet have the equipment to record and send on the internet, but if anyone hears of anything in South Florida- I'm your gal!
Also, for locals- I am in a Victorian caroling group- we dress up and sing Christmas Carols in 4-6 part harmony. It's fun and we bring in extra $$$ for the season.
I've been trying to get into doing some modeling/spokesperson stuff (for the "mature" look), but no luck so far. I have to work around my day job (High school teacher), so it's tough. And I have to be careful of the project... Teachers are scrutinized more than others. So, the "foot modeling" (read *fetish*) may be too risky.....
i'm not familiar with the aged care scene over there, but a few options you may want to check (and i don't know what the rate is, either), is in nursing homes, funeral homes, palliative care.
LadyHibiscus -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 3:36:32 PM)
I would love to do voiceover work!  Shoot, I would love to do any damn thing that would pay me better so I can actually AFFORD my health insurance instead of giving up all the fun things I used to do.  (Like travel to visit my friends. [8|])
The thing is, there's a world of iffy, insecure, part-time income out there.  I need MONEY, regularly, not the aggravation of being self employed again.
sunshinemiss -> RE: Collar me employment section? (10/29/2008 4:35:42 PM)
Hey folks,
as long as we're chatting about it, I'll throw my hat in.
I'm looking in central Ohio.  I have a Master's degree in Psych and am certified to teach English as a foreing language.  I also type over 60 words a minute and would be just as happy to be a secretary as I would a social worker.
*great thread lushy.
well wishes,
sunshine
