You are voting based on color and not on issues. What if a black man was the Republican candidate?
You would be calling him the most racist names and hanging effigies.
That is how you leftist operate.

It's like you're reading my mind.  I feel so close to you right now.

But as a complete aside can you imagine being a black person of a certain age...maybe old enough to have experienced the civil rights movement,or perhaps hearing of same at your fathers knee, wouldn't this be a joyful and triumphant moment for you.

Like this gentleman perhaps?

And to MzMia, I'm so proud of this I could bust. In my 41 years we have come so very far.

Thanks for posting that.  That made me get teary eyed (a hard feat considering I'm such a bad-ass).

lol, I know.
I am going to tolerate "him" until I fire up the old block feature.

Thank goodness for the "block" feature, I hope mine still works.

Vegeta you forgot to mention that most of the hispanics in Cali are illegals and can't vote anyway.

TNstepsout -> RE: Sending love to all the non-Black supporters of Barack Obama!!! (10/30/2008 4:43:35 AM)

I'm thrilled to see a candidate like him (finally) and if he was candycane striped with purple polka dots, he'd have my vote!  Even though we are heading down a very rough and bumpy road, I'm more excited about the future of this country than I have ever been before. The world is changing and the US must change with it if we are to thrive.

MistresseLotus -> RE: Sending love to all the non-Black supporters of Barack Obama!!! (10/30/2008 5:34:35 AM)

A lot of this racist "chatter" is not bothering me, because if it was not for the
support of White, Asian, Hispanic and people of all races, Barack Obama
would NOT be where he is today!!!!

Maybe we're not as racist as people thought we were.

There is no way Senator Obama could be elected if he was not supported
by millions of people that are not Black!!!

I think that Blacks compromise about 12% of the American population.

We all know that people of all races are voting for Senator Obama!!!!
I have tears in my eyes when I think of how far we have come in America.
I never thought I would live to see this day!!

Thanks for saying that. I've been thinking it. Even if he isn't elected first time 'round, it's still a helluva good day for this country ain't it? Wow.

K.

It's only a "great day for the country" if he wins and survives to serve out his term. I'm fearful that many folks that say that they would vote for a black candidate will not do so in the privacy of the voting booth. This is still a deeply racist country. An Obama victory would be a giant step in showing that we have made progress in this regard.

DarkSteven -> RE: Sending love to all the non-Black supporters of Barack Obama!!! (10/30/2008 6:49:36 AM)

MzMia, Obama's been trying to run as inclusive a campaign as possible.

I shudder to think of an election where every ethnic group supported only one or the other candidate.

LaTigresse -> RE: Sending love to all the non-Black supporters of Barack Obama!!! (10/30/2008 6:52:04 AM)

I voted for the human being I felt was best for the job. Gender or race played no part in that at all.

It was an easy choice for me.

cjan -> RE: Sending love to all the non-Black supporters of Barack Obama!!! (10/30/2008 7:59:15 AM)

Here's an interesting piece in today's NYT relevant to this topic, i.e., subconscious bias. It also has links to interesting "tests" on the subject. Subconscious bias is what worries me in this upcoming election.

This is no bull MzMia…I don’t see black...I see someone just like me, minus the kinky side I’m sure.

He says what I would say and he believes in what I believe.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw him on the news. He was leaving a political rally in support of an Illinois politician. On leaving he was confronted by a group of anti-abortion protesters. Most politicians in that situation play like they don’t hear and walk on as fast as they can to their black limousine. But Obama walked right over to them…you couldn’t hear what he was saying but after a few minutes they were all shaking hands with him and waving as he was leaving. I thought that’s what we need someone who will face issues and not duck and run.

I don’t think he is like President Carter who was a good man but unable to get the support of America. I think he will be limited by the economic mess left to him…but will still restore our pride in America.

My thought exactly.  He wouldn't have come this far in the election standing where he is today.   Which is why I'm surprised that those who are voting McCain are automatically assumed to be choosing from a place of racial bias.

Fact is, we don't need your love, we need your vote.

And isn't that the beauty of it Lordandmaster...all we really have to do is vote for the best man for the job.But as a complete aside can you imagine being a black person of a certain age...maybe old enough to have experienced the civil rights movement,or perhaps hearing of same at your fathers knee, wouldn't this be a joyful and triumphant moment for you.So strictly looking at it from that perspective I will accept the love graciously offered by MzMia and smile all the way to the voting booth....love right back MzMia... p.s MzMia,you have mail

yes mike...this is very cool. I have thought of this very thing many times.

Best man for the job imo.

And your sig line is one I fully agree with.

MzMia, Thanks for putting this thread up and I am happy to say I have some hope with Obama at the helm. What he can do for foreign relations will be awesome.

We have a voice that counts: VOTE!

i am half white and half black.  i did not vote for Obama.  i do not believe he is right for this country which has nothing to do with race.  as a matter of fact, i believe he is dangerous!
